Still 14 games left... 06:13 - Feb 2 with 1095 views | LA_Tractor_Boy | Although there are still 14 games left, I and many others are now resigned to relegation. Especially as Everton have pulled away and Wolves look to be heading in the right direction. But do we think KMc and the players deep down feel the same? Obviously they aren't going to publicly admit defeat, but if privately they feel we're done then it could be a very messy end to the season. Hopefully the players will come out swinging against Villa, but I do fear that we'll go down with a whimper.

For some, maybe most, it will be the last time they play at this level. This season has been a big learning experience for everyone. We now know what it takes to swim in this pond and hopefully we’ll be much better prepared for the next time, be that next season or a few years down the line. It’s been an experience for sure, not one that’s always been enjoyable, but I’m still glad we’re here and still in the mix. Can the manager and players find it in them to pull it off? The signs don’t look promising but we know they can occasionally raise their game to the level required...just need to do it in most of the remaining games which will be a big ask.

What we've achieved over the last couple of years is incredible. It's not impossible they'll do it again. Personally I came into this season with a simple outlook. To enjoy the ride whatever it brings. For me, that's not going to change. This doesn't mean I don't care....it doesn't mean I don't feel it when things like yesterday happen. It just means I'm sanguine about it. We're in the Prem....playing against the best. Punching at a level we haven't fought at for a long, long time. Both our players and our manager are learning as are we what this league is all about. I'm not writing them off, they deserve better than that from us. We go again and then again and then again.

Sadly, whether we want to admit it or not we just aren’t good enough for this division and the league doesn’t lie after 24 games. Pound for pound Wolves have a better squad than us and will stay up. It will be the 3 promoted sides going back down IMO. The GD is woeful for those 3 sides too, that’s a telling story in itself. [Post edited 2 Feb 6:59]

Still 14 games left... on 12:25 - Feb 2 with 622 views | BloomBlue | I was concerned after some of the recent games where the players heads dropped as soon as the opposition scored, but yesterday I didn't see that. That has given hope the players are still giving it their best. Trouble for me (as I said on another thread) it's starting to remind me of Burnley last season. Players giving it a go, mgr saying we're learning, player after each game saying we know we need to do better, but ultimately they failed. Especially from approx Feb last season, the constant defeats finally shattered the Burnley players confidence and they simply turned up resigned to relegation and the season couldn't end soon enough. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
