No Leif helped Jack Clarke today 00:08 - Feb 9 with 2586 views | tonybied | I think JC's improved performance may in part be down to the fact he wasn't competing with Leif for the same bit of grass. He had bags of space out on the left on loads of occasions and Townsend didn't overlap to much today. I know both his goals came from a slightly more central position but he looked a lot more like the JC we've seen playing for Sunderland over the last few years, cutting in from wide and causing carnage.

I know it sounds simple but Jack Clarke has shown he is too good for that level. He is just still getting to grips with the strength and power of the Premier league. I certainly think he is someone who if signed by a club who were already established in the prem he would have shone more with the greater experience around him. Such a talented footballer. Oh, I agree and I'm not saying that was the only reason he played well. I have just noticed that when he and Leif have played together it looks like Leif is running into the spaces where Jack would rather be, and he then doesn't quite know where to position himself. Coventry's right-hand side was definitely their weaker side as Clarke and Hirst were causing quite a few issues down that side of the pitch all afternoon.

Some players take time to settle in also. Our two Dutch masters took a few months to get going !!

We have to remember that Leif is such a freaky good player. He is essentially 2 players in 1. Not many players about cover the ground he does. I sometimes wonder if he should be utilised in the middle to maximise his fitness. Hmmm? I would be inclined to play Townsend and Clarke on the left and give Leif a free role.

I must admit i too have wondered if Leif could play central midfield but then again i sort of thought if it aint broke why try and fix it , interesting though .

Davis is so effective because he makes runs from so deep. Difficult to pick up. Play him higher as a winger and he doesn't have that space. He's not a winger either as he doesn't take players on as such. Certainly no CM either. Yes, an engine and a half but doesn't have the positional play to operate there.

No Leif helped Jack Clarke today on 08:16 - Feb 9 with 1663 views | mikeybloo88 | Leif is our TAA...outstanding delivery so better to play on the flank not in the middle...not the best defensively though
No Leif helped Jack Clarke today on 10:26 - Feb 9 with 1379 views | billlm | Agree in part, Also my take on your thoughts, With Townsend not constantly pushed higher up( I know only Coventry) but we were no where near that exposed at left back as when Leif plays hence our left centre back is not constantly being pulled far left weakening the middle of defence, I have no problems with Townsend there, Thought he did well against Liverpool,

The first goal was stark, you don’t get anything like that sort of space in the PL

No Leif helped Jack Clarke today on 12:01 - Feb 9 with 1136 views | OldFart71 | Most of our team are acclimatising to life in a higher League. When you look at players like Phillips and Grealish moving to City and several of those moving to Man Utd who are struggling. These players cost vast amounts more than the half dozen we spent £20 million on each. I don't think we fully appreciate the vast difference between the Championship and the Premier League. Playing teams with multi million pound players in established teams. We know we haven't the time, but it's the time we have and as we are seeing those that come up up going down again. I don't know how you buck this trend.
No Leif helped Jack Clarke today on 13:31 - Feb 9 with 1009 views | SaffronWaldenBlues | He was also playing against Coventry who themselves had rested key players. I doubt he’s going to get anywhere near that much freedom in the league, Davis or not.
