I know we al have fond memories of Boncho, and when they come off they are a thing of beauty but 9 times out of 10 they dont come off and more than half the time they are fecking dangerous.

He was booked.
But my point is a gneral one, overhead kicks are very dangerous. Several times this season I have seen defenders pull out of challenging for a ball for fear of getting a face full of studs.
I couldn't see if there was any contact on Greaves today because of the angle from where I was, but it is always a risk with over heads kicks, and anyone who tries one cannot legitamately claim to be in control, it would be really difficult for them to see who was in the line of danger for starters. | |

i think they are inherently danerous. The foot will be at or around head height, the kicker has a limited view of the players round them, and there is pretty much no chance of pulling out once comitted to the kick. | |

No Davis was sent off for kicking through Saka straight onto his achilles, as much of a nailed on red as you will see all season. The only time I've seen it doubted was on here, which tells the story that some are watching games through very blue tinted glasses. [Post edited 10 May 21:02]

I thought Wissa attempting that overhead kick was ridiculous. The ball looped high up straight in the air in a busy penalty box, Greaves was right next to him and always going to be attempting to head it. It wasn't instinctive, Wissa had plenty of time to think about what he was doing. |  | | |

That is nonsense, it was a daft challenge, Saka was between the ball and Lief. Lief didn't and was never going to get near the ball. Davis didn't have any complaints about the decision and knew he was off immediately.

Not for me Geoff. We need better and more consistent referees, assistants and fourth officials. There are enough of them to come up with better decisions. The test here is reasonable simple, is it safe to execute or not. If you get man not ball it’s not safe and in any other situation on the pitch you are sent off for a head punch or kick. | |
