Have we done the upcoming Orgreave inquiry? 14:06 - Jun 25 with 509 viewsbluelagos

Just come out about the Northumbtia police shredding boxes of evidence relating to their role at Orgreave?

Sit on files for 40 years refusing to divulge their contents then when Labour announce a manifesto commitment to an inquiry instead of keeping them safe, you destroy them...

Wouldn't want the actual truth to be put in the public domain now would we, might undermine public confidence after all...

Never trust a copper, never ever trust a south Yorkshire copper (nor the MET for that matter). Protect the badge at all costs, public comes second. Truth a very distant 3rd.

My imperfect cousin was in Suffolk police and the miners' strike more or less paid for his house.

Never trust someone who says never trust a copper.

During the miners' strike, four of us (males) in a car travelled to a football tour in Scotland and passed through through an area where the strikes were taking place.

We were stopped by the police to check if we were pickets.

I was never convinced they had the power to stop us for that reason.

Colleague of mine was at Orgreave, (with the miners), from the stories he's told me, I'm not surprised that Plod have been shredding evidence.
