I'll be honest my view at the time was that he played well against us in a meaningless pre season friendly which I think was our final pre season game, so I imagine that our recruitment was far advanced elsewhere? So I wasn't really buying into the hype.

I dunno. Ive never watched a friendly and seen a player as much as he where the ball just stuck to his foot. He just never lost the ball. Best individual performance ive ever seen from a player during a pre season.
Appreciate that is just one and just a friendly. But ive never come away from watching a game and thinking hes a must sign. The fact he was available and for so low too.

Well obviously, but he was so head and shoulders above everybody on that day, and while only a friendly it should have at least promted further investigation.
