I’ve seen it many times over the years: when a team is being thoroughly beaten with plenty of time remaining, referees often start to protect the weaker side. Yesterday’s official seemed to do exactly that from the first minute.
I appreciate that in England we admire a plucky underdog, but that referee’s bias was blatant. He clearly favoured them, then attempted to even things up at the end by awarding us a soft penalty while failing to spot at least two clear penalties against them afterwards.
Isn't it a shame we never get to see the referees assessor report and both managers for that matter.
