Bear with me... Seamus Coleman 01:01 - May 27 with 1735 viewsWicklowBlue

Haven't seen Coleman mentioned at all (maybe I missed a thread)

Same profile as Young, no doubt deciding on whether he continues his playing career or moves to his next adventure. Whether that is a coaching or other role at Everton etc.

From an Everton and a ROI perspective a hugely respected player, started his career on the wing and then settled into the left back birth. Listened to Zenedine Kilbane this week talk about his career and how he realised that he wasn't going to be the most technically gifted player but he focused on fitness and just sheer hard work.

Anyway in the recent playoffs Coleman really drove the Ireland team forward and for me made a noteable contribution.

In short, a good experienced backup for Leif? Won't play 90mins regularly but enough experience to help the squad overall and chip in performance wise. Obviously knows DOS, Taylor etc

Thoughts?

That all sounds wonderful apart from one teeny tiny little detail.

He plays right back.

Think he will stay at Everton in some sort of coaching roll. Unfortunately, as pointed out in a thread I posted about another experienced player, probably a little too old for us know.

22 appearances in 3 seasons, 38 in October. No thanks.

I think I’d prefer Jenna Coleman.

Haven't Everton offered him a coaching role?

It’s Ashley Young all over again, would probably never play and we would waste £’s and more importantly a place in the squad. No thanks

No. Far too old now. Unlikely to be fit on a regular basis. Played limited football in past few seasons. Would presumably cost a lot of money on wages.

Let’s not sign another geriatric cheerleader and sign a striker instead.

You are saying Phil was premature and we didn't miss out at all ... it's just been a bit protracted.

Perhaps Batistuta is still on too?

This is true. But an injury-prone 38-year-old doesn’t need to be in our equation.
