Just read that Alan Brazil had a liver transplant which he is recovering from. I knew he had been ill but didn’t realise it was this serious. I I have missed a previous thread’, apologies.
I met Alan at the 1981 EUFA Cup Winners reunion function in 2022 at the Corn Exchange. He is a very nice, pleasant guy as he comes across on the wireless. I was privileged to see him play numerous times and what a class act he was.

Yeah, I love him on the radio in the morning, always great to hear his Ipswich stories and references to all things local.
As you say a top guy, I met him 10 years or so ago and saw his road show with Parlour a few years back.

Alan is a top, top guy. Have known him since the UEFA Cup win and been on quite a few nights out with him.
Many stories but the one thing I will always be grateful to him for is letting my son go into Talksport for a period of work experience after my son had got his media degree and was working with Rob Chandler on his radio show.
The rest is history, as "they" say and my son is now head honcho of video production at Global Radio.
Alan had a big part to play, so I'm eternally grateful.

Lovely man - talented presenter. I sincerely hope he doesn’t abuse his new liver. My wife has terminal liver condition - not from alcohol but from an autoimmune disease PBC. You have the choice not to drink. You don’t have any influence about having an autoimmune disease: nothing you can do. She’s been diagnosed over 25 years and will need a new liver soon - if one is available. She has worked out every day, is not overweight, eats sensibly, never drinks. She will not be able to “decide” to have a transplant - it’s down to luck. I really hope Alan understands how lucky he is and also shows respect for the unfortunate donor. Six years ago my daughter had a kidney and pancreas transplant, she was discharged from hospital a week before the first Covid lockdown, scary times for us all, her life has been transformed, dialysis is extremely tough, she had her transplant on her 15th call to hospital when potential organs became available, she now has two healthy little tractor boys.
I hope your wife gets her transplant very soon and likewise makes a good recovery afterwards.
Also a good time to ask everyone to make their wishes on organ donation known to those nearest and dearest to them should the worst ever happen and maybe consider becoming a blood donor as well, blood supplies are frequently in short supply. |  | | |

My eldest son died suddenly in November. He felt strongly about organ donation. His donation helped several recipients regain quality of life including new kidneys, lungs (I didn’t know that was possible!) and sight. Many more tissues useable. Gives his wife and two young girls just a modicum of comfort . | | | |
