Imagine if he joined Fulham now.. 19:18 - Jun 10 with 1711 viewsWallingford_Boy

And the “break from football” was just an excuse.

Grrrrr, I’d be so cross.

RIP Sir Bobby

Phil's report states that the club would be protected in that event. In other words that, I presume, KM would be liable to pay compensation (and in all likelihood be reimbursed by the new club as part of his joining them). That must be a standard contractual clause, otherwise a compensation clause would be very easily avoided. For that reason, I don't think we'll see him at Fulham or any other club any time soon, otherwise why wouldn't he have simply resigned to join Fulham (or another club)?

That obviously can't happen, if you engage your brain a bit.

If he joined Fulham he would lose alot of credibility.
Fulham are a smaller club in every sense than Town.
I wouldn't be surprised if he were sacked by Xmas and regret leaving Town.

I assume we have frozen his contract so that if he joins another club, they would still pay the release clause fee.

Exactly. So he wouldn't be putting out a statement saying he's stepping away from managing. They'd just pay the compo and off he'd go.

How do you know that exactly?

The club hopefully have frozen his contract which will then enable a fee whenever he returns to the game as they would have to pay to unfreeze the contract

Alternatively, we;ve agreed a mutual termination, which I hope we haven;t done

Unless I have completely misunderstood, I think he could take another job, but the compensation clause would then apply. Of course, that in itself might well be a barrier to his doing so.

I have no idea how long the compensation clause will apply post-resignation. Unless that has been reported and I've missed it.

It would possibly be a 6 month clause, so KM can join a new club in Jan 2027 as a free agent. Kind of makes sense as a time frame.

Bottom line is he will get this price tag off his head for his next move.

What I meant was he can't take another job without the clause applying. So with wallers OP, there would be no point announcing a step back from mananging to then rock up at Fulham. If you were leaving to go to Fulham then you'd just do that and they'd pay the compo. You wouldn't need his statement today.

The compensation clause has been reported as 12 months.

You can't just 'take a break' in order to get round a compensation clause, which is what the OP is suggesting and what we're all responding to. Otherwise everyone would do it and there would be no point in a compensation clause. It's just common sense Frimmers.

Stepping away gives him time to consider offers and not get embroiled with Town
matters eg sorting retained list etc. Fulham etc wont baulk at paying compensation if they want Kieran. Perhaps he doesn't want another relegation on his cv with Town. but l think he may not last till Xmas at another PL team who will demand instant results..

No sorry flash, just meant how do you about the xmas thing, just meant has that part been announced somewhere

I imagine we;ve simply frozen his contract, that remains frozen until any such time he returns to the game and the club at that time would then have to pay to release the freeze.

Fulham want a manager now, they aren't going to wait around for someone taking a break. There would be no point in him lying about taking a break, as the OP is suggesting.

How long is a 'break' maybe days or a week or two...or wait for the season to start and see other vacancies arise..Fulham hardly seems a dream job!

If you want a rumour then it's he's Celtic bound in a years time when O'Neill goes.

Obviously it's just a rumour though and thus likely total nonsense.

Better to walk away from football than join a club with a smaller stadium and less stature. 😂
