| New starting XI 10:00 - Jun 25 with 3249 views | Wallingford_Boy | Walton (although likely to be replaced) O'Shea Davis (although likely to be replaced) Matusiwa Philogene Anyone else good enough to start in the Prem for us? Nunez, Clarke, Greaves, Furlong, Egeli all good squad players, but does look like we will need 6-8 new signings that can start for us. And clearly a hell of a lot of outgoings!! | |

A lot were talking about how he struggled last time in the Prem and GON likely to look at him with fresh eyes and may feel like he is not strong enough defensively. I put him and Walton in my 5 to start as I rate them both, just seems they both may be replaced... possibly.

| New starting XI on 10:10 - Jun 25 with 2541 views | jas0999 | Walton nowhere near good enough. Agree that Davis was poor last time out. Suspect he will start the season though. Think we need at least ten new signings though. Wouldn’t be surprised if one of JP or Clarke are moved on. | | | |
| New starting XI on 10:11 - Jun 25 with 2529 views | blueoutlook | I’m not sure Jaden is good enough either. A couple of worldly goals every 4 months doesn’t make you a PL player. I don’t think he has the ability. To be honest, I don’t think any of them are really up to it. Most are decent back up, but not starters, apart from O Shea and maybe Matusiwa. | | | |
| New starting XI on 10:11 - Jun 25 with 2524 views | WolfieAtTheBack | O'Shea Davis Matusiwa They should start games, but, the more you look at it there is just so many pieces to put together it might be a step too far with the new manager, coaching staff and losing KM on top of building a new team. It would be a lot for an established champions league side let's be mindful of this in advance of the season starting. | | | |

So 9 new starters?! Wowza, that is some overhaul.

It's no secret that Davis has stayed with the club largely because of the good relationship with McKenna.

Imagine starting a new account just to talk bobbins. Davis has been widely quoted as saying how much he loves the area and the club. There is a single player that didn't have a good relationship with McKenna, and he'll be off to Derby or similar soon.

I'm more confident that Davis is a PL player than I am Matusiwa or Philogene.

Why do you think that? He struggled last time.

I think O'Neil will like Davis (not sure if he knows him from his Muff loan spell?), he's got the pace and athleticism to bomb on, I think he'll be using him like Ait-Nouri at Wolves. Not saying he's in that league, but profile wise.
| New starting XI on 11:09 - Jun 25 with 2052 views | _CliveBaker_ | I think O'Neil likes to be quite flexible between a back 3 or 4. Either way a huge amount of change coming. New keeper (Pope?) New right back, I think Furlong will find himself as cover. O'Shea New CB - partnering O'Shea in a back 4, or between O'Shea and Greaves in a 3 Davis New CM Matusiwa probably, although I have some reservations in possession. I think he's a beast off the ball but maybe not cute enough with it. Need a good upgrade alongside him. Philogene / Clarke New 10 New RW New 9 Not much to do then | | | |

I think he and others will surprise you. I don't want to call it a shop window but they will be playing against the best in the world and if you can't raise your game against them then you are at your ceiling. I think they'll all put in an extra 10%.

Walton nowhere near good enough is a massive stretch, he's won Player of the Year, and didn't do too badly last time in Prem before getting Injured. Granted, I think he'll be replaced, but I wouldn't be too worried with him coming in if our first choice was out for a period of time.

If he's played similar to last time we will get the same results, He can't get up and down quick enough, For a defender his positional play is all over the place, So what do you do with him at this level, His forward play is good enough but you have to relinquish the defending duties so for me he's a bit in no man's land, I to think he will start the season
| New starting XI on 11:25 - Jun 25 with 1935 views | Olcol | We have the makings of a good squad. However another dozen of better quality players is necessary for staying up...(IMHO) | | | |

It'll be interesting to see what O'Neil does with Davis. I've always thought he could move forward but we have loads of options there already.

Davis got exposed quite a bit last time because Cajuste was an absolute fraud off the ball and defensively. Having a CM that can cover the spaces Davis leaves on transition will help enormously.

O'Neil has played a back 3 with wing backs before, I've always thought that's a role that would suit Leif.

Davis was exposed largely due to McKenna maintaining the same system he had played in L1 and the Championship but against far better players. Persisting with a double pivot that was overrun time and time again and having players infront of him who were not always defensively switched on whilst still expecting Leif to be a major attacking outlet is the real reason he looked exposed. O'Neil may well be more pragmatic in his set up and this may benefit Leif.
