Not so. I broke my foot coming out of the pub the following evening. If the court assumed that I broke my foot at the game and that might have been punishment enough so no need to punish me further then so be it.

Corbyn's latest car crash on 13:25 - May 11 with 2721 views | Swansea_Blue | I must be turning into a commie, as a lot of these policies on the face of it sound like things we should be aiming for. Granted the devil is in the detail and I'm well aware of the concerns over costing. - Publically run railways and freeze fares (I'm not keen on public ownership, but we have the highest fares in Europe and other countries make public ownership work) - Energy market partially re-nationalised and average household dual fuel bills capped at £1,000 a year (widely acknowledged that we haven't planned for the future under private ownership and the the market is a mess, so something has to change) - University tuition fees abolished and maintenance grants reintroduced (Fantastic, education underpins everything) - Against leaving EU without a deal (Sensible) - No commitment to cutting immigration levels (Realistic. Govt hasn't been able to get close to meeting their pledges, and has already admitted it can't after Brexit) - Zero hours contracts outlawed and unpaid internships banned (Reducing exploitation purely for profit sounds like something any worker should support (and any employer with the well being of their staff at heart) - On executive pay a 20:1 limit on gap between the lowest and highest paid workers in companies given Government contracts (Too controlling for my liking, but the inequality gap is huge and too many execs are paid for failure) - A pledge to build a million new homes, including 100,000 council and housing association homes (We need new homes, every party agrees) - Borrowing £250bn to invest over a decade on energy, transport and digital infrastructure (See above regarding lack of investment under private sector. We need to do something to build future proof infrastructure. E.g. power station replacements are lacking, we've lamely surrendered our position as a top renewable energy nation, we're 21st out of 36 OECD countries for internet speed) - Lower the voting age to 16 (If we want to engage young people in politics, the sooner we do it the better imo) - Support the renewal of Trident but a commitment to a “nuclear free world” (A nuclear free world is a great aspiration. Good to see pragmatism here as there is the whole issue of deterrence to be considered. It's a long-burner.)

if we're not going to address the costing why stop here? why not free rail travel for all? energy bills capped at £500? all students paid the national average wage when they study? money is a detail. the thing about costing is that it forces you to say what matters most. £500 bn of borrowing plus annual budget deficits is a way of claiming you'll do everything any one can dream of. but none of it is then credible.

They are going to address the costs in the final manifesto when it's published, as far as I'm aware. Yes, they need to be scrutinised.

I'll be honest. I think the education proposals are very innovative and forward thinking. As for the rest, an Emeritus Professor David Parker completely took apart the re nationalisation plans earlier. Of course Corbyn probably won't live to see every rail franchise go back into public ownership. The final contract runs out in 2036 when he will be 87.
