Agree with the sentiment ITFC joe, but the way Nick Pope has played for Burnley he would’ve deserved a call up. That’s not taking anything away from Angus Gunn because he looks very decent.

He was with the u21's so it's just a convenient thing to do. He won't play and Pope is probably ahead of him in reality. So the cupboard isn't bare and they didn't want to call up Pope for a game he won't play in as he's probably on holiday with his family. [Post edited 12 Nov 2017 8:46]

As others have mentioned, I presume on this occasion he’s only been called up as he’s already been part of the under 21 squad, whereas someone like Pope is prob alt on holiday and it’s a lot of faffing about for him.
I’d be surprised if Gunn made the next international squad should any of the 3 that we’re called up this time, we’re injured again. |  |
