The town of Whiteclay in Nebraska has a population of 17 and has four liquor stores that sell an average of 12,500 cans of beer a day, mostly to the residents of Pine Ridge Reservation two miles down the road.
Quite remarkable Jeff.
Edit; Further reading suggests that the liquor stores licences were revoked in 2017 and the population has dropped to 10.

If you're interested in reading about that sort of stuff then 'Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee' by Dee Brown is a good book talking about how they were put on reservations in the first place.

Thanks.
I'll bookmark it. I seem to have concentration issues at the moment and can't actually read a book very easily, quite worrying. I might see if they have it on audible..

I'll look that up, cheers.
I visited the Warm Springs Reservation (Oregon) when we were in the States last year. We were only passing through but had a couple of ours at the visitor centre. It triggered a whole bunch of emotions: fascination, sadness for what they've lost and how they were treated, hope for what lies ahead for them. An enterprising bunch - ran a hydroelectric dam and were also looking to develop cannabis plantations!

I was thinking more of him leading a cavalry charge through an unsuspecting Native American village.
He would have definitely been leading the best, most bigly cavalry charge had his bone spurs not been playing him up. He'd have stayed back and sold expensive, substandard covefe to the troops instead.

Have you been over-stimulated recently? Too much social media, 24/7 news, TWTD can do that. We face a constant barrage of information in small parcels these days with no need to concentrate for more than 1 minute at a time. That's a reinforcing loop apparently.
The other one is vitamin B12 deficiency - really affects concentration (although you have other symptoms too - not wanting to face the world being one of them).
Disclaimer - I don't know what I'm talking about and those things are about the limit of my knowledge on the subject. Get to the docs if you're worried.

It's a long running thing, I forget everything and can't remember the most recent of conversations. I was slightly concerned about dementia but a business colleague recently told me that he has exactly the same problem and recently went to the doctors.
Turns out he is doing too much and never relaxing, I'm going along with that diagnoses. I find it impossible to switch off, I work all night while I watch TV and I even take a notepad down the pub to write down ideas.

For instance take the Mashantucket Pequot tribe, they decided to build a massive casino (it was the biggest in the world) on their lands because it was outside of US law. They made a fortune for all the tribal members but the problems with addictions etc that came along with it have caused havoc in the tribe.

Yes, Custer did not have a very good game at The Little Big Horn did he? Another topic that I have two or three books on.
edit-although I think Custer's hair was his own-until the Sioux and Cheyenne got hold of it.

I visited the battlefield back in September. Very well laid out and, as so often, gives a good insight into what happened.
There is also a great series of (30+) YouTube videos in which someone goes over the whole ground. Starts here (tho there's some episodes on the history beforehand):

A bloke I work with, his brother works with the tribes on addiction problems etc. these young kids grow up knowing they’ll get hundreds of thousands of dollars when they turn 18 because of casino cash and inevitably they piss it up the wall
