Corner kicks..interesting (?) rule? 09:57 - Sep 9 with 2004 views | Swailsey | After seeing a spate of direct-from-corner goals lately, I had a look into the other rules, and apparently: “A goal may be scored directly from a corner kick, but only against the opposing team; if the ball directly enters the kicker’s goal a corner kick is awarded to the opponents.” http://www.thefa.com/football-rules-governance/lawsandrules/laws/football-11-11/ Just call me the new HfB.

Corner kicks..interesting (?) rule? on 10:04 - Sep 9 with 1960 views | Radlett_blue | i badly miscued an attempted short goal kick across our goal many years ago and it just missed our goal, before going out for a corner. if it had gone in, I'm sure some of their players would have claimed a goal.

Your goalie up for a corner, ball hits opponents' cross bar hard, bounces out, strong wind....

The strong wind would need to suddenly change direction immediately the ball hits the crossbar as well... it's very unlikely Facters. Can't believe I responded...

This applies with all markings, the whole of the ball has to cross the whole of the line for it to be out of play, not within the correct area etc. For this same reason you get crowds baying for corners and throw-ins because they can see grass between ball and line, but the ball isn't out.

Amazes me how many people don't get that, same when claiming the ball has gone out for a throw or corner or whatever.

Although unfortunately the match officials don't have a bird's-eye view of the ball so they have to guess. Perhaps in the future games will be refereed by drone?

We'll have hawkeye style technology for all markings eventually, so they can sanitise every last drop of doubt from the game.

If it reduces the use for VAR then bring it on.
