When you hear the bikers out from tomorrow, remember it is within the rules.

Around my way there have already been a large number of bikers making 'essential journeys' in the nice weather. Seems sensible as it must be a low risk activity just as long as they don't congregate.

As a former biker myself (with the scars to prove it) I remember the joys of a sunny day and an open road on two wheels. These days my two wheel action is restricted to the odd trip out on my 15yo Giant MTB.

Motorcyclists are pretty much ready prepared with their own PPE.

Motorcyclists, or 'donors' as they call them in A&E.

About 8 years ago, when I was studying for my ITU qualification the SNOD(Specialist Nurse Organ Donation) came out to give a lecture on organ donation and our role in ITU(essentially, do a thousand blood tests, keep the donor's organs all well perfused, be very nice to the family).
One phrase that stuck out for me was 'here in the Eastern region, we have a a very high number of donors compared to the rest of the country. So, on one hand, well done you lot for doing the right thing by your fellow man on the other, try slowing down on the roads a bit'.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

Surely Specialist Nurse Organ Transplantation would be a better title. Perhaps you could suggest to your boss and best friend Matt?

Amusing Aside: our covid testing booths at ED at [redacted] hospital were initially signposted as Coronavirus Rapid Assessment Pods by some enterprising manager until someone sensible pointed out what the acronym for that was..

When my mum was an A&E nurse she joked that when it rained at the weekend they would comment on the imminent arrival of bikers.

She told me that over and over when I got a motorbike. It certainly encouraged me to be careful.

Assumption is to make an ass out of you and me. Those who assume they know you, when they don't are just guessing. Those who assume and insist they know are daft and in denial. Those who assume, insist, and deny the truth are plain stupid. Those who assume, insist, deny the truth and tell YOU they know you (when they don't) have an IQ in the range of 35-49.

I worked for a major insurance once who got very close, I actually saw copies of the guides and promo literature, to launching a Pension Investment Strategy Service

Apparently no one had spotted the acronym, but it give rise to some amusing suggestions for advertising campaign slogans

Back in the 90s I was working on an asset management project, and went to visit a colleague at A Major Government Site in the north-west. The name badge of the person I went to see proudly proclaimed she was the Business Unit Manager for the Fixed Asset Register Team.

Also in the 90s the rather other-worldly Chief Executive designate of the Contributions Agency (known in its development phase as the Contributions Unit) wanted to name the IT project for the Agency Contributions Unit New Technology.

Around the same time the judge appointed Head of the Social Fund Inspectorate, which was based in the Rotunda in Birmingham, wanted to get into the Agency act. He wanted to rename the team the Independent Review Agency. He took some persuading that name wasn't a good idea. Particularly as the Rotunda had previously contained a pub known as The Mulberry Bush....

It's not just a question of speed or biking vulnerability or idiocy. The A14 half way between Ipswich and Cambridge was identified as the worst place in the country to be involved in a serious road accident in a recent survey - and is oft-quoted by the air ambulance.

When I spent a year in Liberia there were a number of UN battalions all known by a shortening of their country with Bat on the end.

Genuinely you would see signs for the NigBats, PakBats and BanBats.
