L1 next season then... 19:57 - Jul 6 with 3365 viewsclive_baker

Ipswich Town
Sunderland
Portsmouth
Peterborough
Doncaster
Burton

And likely 3 from Luton, Barnsley, Boro, Hull, Huddersfield, Charlton, Stoke, Birmingham, Wigan.

Absolutely buzzing for another mid table finish. What a time to be alive.

Swindon, Crewe, Plymouth and Northampton coming up. Would any of them be particularly dangerous next season?

And Blackpool may improve.

Plus two from the three of Oxford, Wycombe and Fleetwood will be there.

Yay.

At least one of those three will beat us at home. And one of the other two will put us out of the League Cup.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

Don’t worry, we will be swapping Flynn Downes for Charlie Wyke - will take us from mid table to first under our excellent manager.

Not all bad - we can beat Burton, might snatch a draw against Doncaster.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

Reinstate the Portsmouth one.

Unfortunately that will probably be the target. You can't aim high with this manager we have and the players alike.

Don’t forget as well if Stoke or/and Huddersfield get relegated, they still have the parachute payments from the premier league. Can’t wait for that game🥳

Thing is on paper, the more you look the more we start to appear to belong where we are.

However, when you see Coventry and Wycombe or look at Burnley and Sheffield United in the Premier League you have to say there is no reason why we couldn't be much higher.

It is unlikely to be 3 from the names you have listed getting promoted from this league next season. We need to stop looking at reputations and sort our own team out and beat whoever we are up against. Budget wise we do not belong in this league but the longer we stay the more likely we soon will.

Budget-wise we don't. Manager-wise, we do.

I think on recent form manager-wise we don't belong in this league either.

It's fair to say, I have every confidence in his ability to get us out of the division.

Been chatting to a Sunderland fan tonight. They have released most of squad and a big chunk.of promising youngsters. About to sell best prospect cheap to Norwich. They are in complete turmoil. However they may get Marcus Maddison weirdly who supports them...

He sees us as a one of main favourites next year. If Boro come down thats bad. Other than that we have to.step.up..We shouldn't fear any of these sides..Just.making the point that from other teams perspectives we're right up the top in these sorts of lists.

Champ relegation spots are pretty much sewn up.

Barnsley and Luton don’t look they are going to find the consistency needed to put a run together to save themselves, and when Wigan get their points deduction, that’ll save the likes of Stoke, Boro, Hudds etc.

That Wigan thing is weird.

IF the stories are true and their sale a few weeks ago was all part of a bet on them being relegated I do not think that they should be deducted the 12 points but it will probably take a while to sort out.

No-one knows how any L1 club is going to look like by the time next season starts. Some clubs will have to sell / release players who have played a key role for them this recent season, some won’t be able to afford anyone. Crowd numbers (income) are a complete unknown. Stability of a club will be the key factor, probably more than the quality of their players at this time. Hopefully ME is keeping us stable as a club so I am not talking about the manager in this response.

No-one should base their fears on how well teams have performed on the pitch in 19/20.
