Dean Smith first manager for sack next season? 08:13 - Jul 28 with 1329 views | Marshalls_Mullet | Dont get me wrong, I understand the relief at staying up (by the skin of their teeth), but Smith called it a magnificent achievement and seems to have been celebrating for days. If I was the owner, having spent £150m on transfers this season, I'd be a little concerned about Smith's view on what constitutes a magnificent achievement.

£150m is £150m. Its still a big investment, and will have been made with more ambition than scraping 17th place.

My money is on Bruce, if the take over ever happens at St James' Park. Even if Smith gets the boot at Villa, he's still done a good job there and his stock would still be high.
