Vaguely remember now

Rotherham United 1-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report 11th Aug 2018 17:18
Michael Smith netted a 90th minute winner as Paul Hurst’s Blues were beaten 1-0 by his old club Rotherham United at the New York Stadium. Town had been on top for most of game and were denied two very strong penalty claims before the Millers’ striker hooked home following a corner. 157

I seem to recall Nolan looking good

Think it's the one we lost 1-0 in the last minute with their only decent chance of the game ( not that we created anything).

Sat near a dad and son who spent most of the game saying where's the quality, how right they were ! On the train later all the Rotherham fans saying don't worry you'll finish above us, how wrong they were.

Seem to remember a corner at the far end, possibly back off the bar and headed in?

I remember them being terrible and wondering how we weren't able to beat them

Think it was a loose ball hacked in. Was their first chance and we should have won. We were also denied a penalty which was among the more stonewall ones we've ever been denied. I do wonder whether things might not have gone quite so disatrously for the other PH had we won that game.

Certainly felt like a sliding doors moment at the time, but the fact that he wasn't overly liked by the players would have just made things drag on longer than necessary.

For me?

I remember thinking that Nolan looked quite good, I do not recall thinking that since.

Maybe, but wins, confidence and a generally happier mood might have made a difference at that stage.

Nolan was definitely the stand out on the day, I remembered there was a game where he was but couldn't remember when, it was this one

Yes, Nolan was good that day. Nsiala won everything in the air apart from the crucial ball at the end they scored from. Penalty claim aside, and a late header from Chambers, we never looked like scoring though - that didn't stop loads of people from proclaiming how this was ten times better than McCarthy.

Nolan looked like he had the makings of a player. Chalobah was pinging great passes everywhere but we had nothing up top. Edwards was excellent at running down defenders and making space.

Nsiala obviously had the first of many mares, and it left me thinking Hurst had time to turn around what were very obvious deficiencies. He didn't.

We should have had a penalty at the other end a few minutes earlier. If that went in and we won 1-0 you wonder if things could have gone differently.

yep Jackson was rugby tackled to the ground when clean through, also as Phil says Chambers missed a header from less than 3 yards with literally the last bit of action of the game.

I remember that. They lost 6-0 or something the game before so everyone expected us to win and we dominated but very typically they snatched a late winner against the run of play.

That was the weirdest thing of all wasn't it. We were losing without a whimper ALL SEASON and people were lapping it up. I bailed after Middlesboro at home where could still be playing that game NOW and wouldn't have scored.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.
