Remember it all so well, fantastic team and without doubt at that particular time from 1980 until 1982 we were the best team in Europe. Brings tears to my eyes, and even now after all this time (even if we are in league one) Ipswich town will always be the biggest club in east Anglia! World Cup managers, numerous international players, playing in World Cups! Let’s hope we can build a team around our young guns , and put us back where we truly belong, to be up there with the best teams in the land.

Watching that last night, brought it home to me how few players actually played that season. Compared to the current way of playing football ( and I appreciate football has changed) players didn’t seem to have the injuries they have today, (apart from Burley) and considering how many changes Lambert made last season resting players etc, we still had , and still do by the sound of it so many players unavailable to play because of fitness issues.

Found out later he had forgot about presentation and was in the bath,
all part of the legend of the best club side ever seen

the way everything is choreographed /controlled nowadays would not see that happen again

Another terrible aspect of modern football is the contrived ceremonial nature of the awarding of trophies. Takes half a day and lacks any soul.
