When I last moved I used a specialist conveyancing firm, they were much cheaper than a solicitor and very good, it was 17 years ago but I will try and dig out who they were for you and see if they are still around. They were in Milton Keynes and it might be worth looking for a local firm. |  | | |

My thinking was that if they are not very good a specialist conveyancing firm would not be around for long. Depending where you live Milton Keynes could be a bit of drive if you still need to sign original documents these days, at the time I worked in Milton Keynes one or two days every week so it was not an issue. | | | |

I'd recommend using someone local to you, much easier if you have any problems. We used a bank recommend one (the cheapest option) in Bedford once that were useless. We ended up cancelling with them and going with an Ipswich based one instead. We've used Blocks twice in recent years and had no problems with them |  | | |

I've found online one's better than local ones to be honest, I used first property lawyers in Leicester and their portal was brilliant, let you knew when you needed to upload files, let you know when files had been uploaded etc, When I used a local firm, every time I needed to talk they just fobbed me off constantly. |  |

Its a simple task to do yourself nowadays with plenty of information on line. IF you cant be bothered then get a few quotes from some online conveyancing firms.... in my experience they are far more efficient than jobbing local solicitors.
The last one I used was NBM - largely because they had an office in Cambridge in case I needed it (I didnt). They were very efficient and did the job for a fixed price agreed in advance. | |

Please, whatever you do, don’t get involved with Premier Property Lawyers from Leicester. I can’t go into the details but having myself used a reputable local firm of solicitors, I got lumped with them as my buyers solicitor. The two are completely incompatible. I am very experienced in moving house but this lot caused me & my own solicitor massive problems. Have never come across such an inept outfit. They were truly dreadful & it’s a minor miracle that we got the deal closed. Avoid at all costs. |  | | |

Another vote from me for not paying solicitors' fees to do the job of a conveyancer.
I used the same one 3 times and they were fine; efficient etc. It's what they do.
