Tech news - EU forcing manufacturers to use USB-C for charging on 15:45 - Jun 8 with 1037 views | itfcjoe | Hopefully Apple don't keep the current ones in US and UK - now they have changed it again! Mate got his Mrs an iWatch for her birthday and doesn't even come with a charger so was another £25 - ludicrous

They'll need to, creating two separate phones just for charging purposes is pointless.

They'll fight tooth and nail but I think they'll acquiesce eventually. Which is good. The USB-C is great, in my experience. The docks at the office have it for my Dell work laptop and it charges and hooks up to multiple displays all in one. Not having to take a charger in my bag is handy.

All Apple watches come with a charging cable, I assume that you are referring to just the plug with the usb socket in it? If he paid £25 for one of those then he’s a mug

It'll be handy for work for me as well. We've been on the rather battery hungry Medic Bleep app for referrals and confidential 'instant'(for a given value of the term 'instant') communication for a few years now. Having universal charging points will make it a lot easier to charge on the go rather than having think about bringing a cable out with me/getting back to the office to top up. Oh yes. It's a desktop app as well, but as I'm constantly on the go, that's only got limited benefit to me. [Post edited 8 Jun 2022 15:56]

Yes, sorry. That is good news. But they have bigger batteries. It's the phones that're the issue.

I don't disagree but it would suggest that Apple know they are probably going to have go down this route at some point might be as soon as this years phones but more likely next.

Hurrah for the freedoms of Brexit to allow big businesses to make our lives more awkward and increase unnecessary duplication of products! JRM will be on the case for this Brexit bonus I am sure.
