Been lots of talk over the past weeks about why Cook never used him etc.

And it turns out hes been injured.

One thing we all need to take with Cook. Hes not one for airing info in public so if hes not selecting someone youd expect theres probably a very good reason

Player coming into the club at Ipswich Town ( previously injury free), picks up and injury, shocker!

If there one thing I want Cook to sort out it’s this ridiculous injury record at this Club. It’s been Absolute madness ...for years!

This squad has played its football for the last 2 seasons at almost walking pace. I seriously doubt they can just up the pace over the last 10 games.

I’ve maintained for over four years now that there is something seriously wrong at ITFC regarding their strengthen / conditioning regimes. I doubt it’s even evidenced based. Which is shocking for a professional club and probably explains why we’ve had / get so many injuries Every season. We usually start a season with half the team out.

It smacks of Evans running a professional club on the cheap for me.

Exactly the same with Wilson. On here it was turned into indication of Cook's unfailing love for Chambo on Saturday.

Just turns out he's carrying an injury.

We don't know the half of it, and I suspect may 'ridiculous' substitutions are actually quite logical.

Yep, Spence for Iorfa at Carrot Rud in 2018 and Ward for Cotter at Portman Road in 2018-for instance.

One thing that will always stand out for me during the Hurst reign is the warm down the substitutions would go through after being taken off. Hurst always beat the drum about our sports science being miles behind where it needed to be.

Obviously the on pitch results were nowhere near good enough but it would be interesting to know what he had planned and if it would have improved our current and ongoing injury record.

I attended the Supporters Club AGM in 2019 and Jim Henry defending our injury record with a response stating "it's not just us, it's happening at a lot of clubs" which I appreciate but surely you should strive to be better?

There was the CNN(?) article where the fitness coach said the older players knew their bodies so were left to their own devices. That was under Mick I believe. As you say, it’s been going on for years.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

The older players were the ones who stayed injury free so that part was obviously working.....!

I though MM was all over the sports science, didn't he get Evans to hire Cryo chamber?

It would be interesting to see if Town really have had a much worse injury record than other comparable clubs. You would need to isolate muscular injuries etc, removing the randomness of knocks, cruciate ligaments etc. You would also need to adjust for squad size. But we do seem to have had an incredibly large number of players coming off for muscular injuries or breaking down in training.
This is actually O'Neill's responsibility, but you never get a straight answer on anything from him. I have no idea how Town's budget in this area differs from other clubs. Now we're in the 3rd tier, I would guess it is higher.

I think that rather overstates what was said. If I remember rightly, it was a case of them, through their experience, being able to tell whether they would break down or be OK. I don't think that's anything unusual.

It used to turn up on a Monday whenever there was a game on the Tuesday.

I think you've got to accept injuries will always be a part of football. What frustrates me more is the recovery and reoccurring injuries or new injuries to recovering players. It's taken almost 4 years to get Teddy Bishop back to full fitness, then you look at more recent issues with Norwood and KVY. The amount of time they've missed is crazy. I'm not sure who's door the blame should be laid at. The manager? O'Neill? Henry, Byard and the fitness coaches?

In comparison we've probably had a similar injury record to most teams but our players always seem to take longer to recover.

Is it Paul Lambert's fault at the moment and when does it become Cooks fault?
