The good thing is at least nobody will be blowing out the candles on the cake and then people eating it afterwards. I always found that strange how people were happy to eat a piece of cake after someone had blown, basically spat on the cake, one positive of COVID that's not going to happen now

For the Northern English that means "Happy happy bloke day"......

Just one small problem; sell their houses to who, Ben? Fcking Aquaman?

Oh, George was almost certainly real. Just (what we would now call) Turkish or Syrian*.

And he didn't become England's patron saint until the 14th century.

* He would have described himself as Roman, or possibly Greek.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

As I say with the made up people in the bible, they might be real of sorts but the way they are portrayed is probably loosely. Most people wouldn't believe a tale told from Syria about a random person that they hear in this days age or from 30-40 years ago. We someone have fights over recounted tales from people over there from thousands of years ago that have been translated multiple times.

A clue to it being not true is the small matter of a dragon

....although the LBF crew will go down the "he was turkish" route.

Of course the irony is that Corbyn wanted to give us all the day off to celebrate.

A complicated day for some people.

Christmas is a pagan holiday which was hijacked by Christian missionaries in order to try and convert the pagans who were very attached to their existing holidays.

It certainly has very little to do with the birth of Jesus.

Tho "nationally" (as far as that concept made any sense in the 4th century - which was not much) he would have considered himself Roman. Especially serving in the army.
