Slightly concerned if I'm honest 10:40 - May 13 with 858 viewshype313

Seems like we're putting all our eggs in the Cook basket with the mass exodus players, appreciate things haven't been great over the past few years, but this does seem like a very big gamble, calculated one with the new owners and guys behind the scenes, but Cook has got to get this right as it could fail spectacularly, and if the youngsters all depart then he won't have much credit in the bank with the fans if the squad is underperforming with Championship/League One journeymen.

Lets hope he can replicate his previous successes with squad rip outs, but I do have a slight nagging feeling this could go pear shaped...

All true but some would say that by finishing midtable in L1 two seasons running we were already failing spectacularly.

It looks scary at the moment but we need to wait and see who starts coming in before making any rash judgements.

It is much more than Cook, it's Johnson, Detmer & Bakay, Mark Ashton, O'Leary and Rolls etc.

I am much more willing to back them now than I am a group of players who have had there shot at this division TWICE, and failed TWICE.

I do not understand the concern.

Poll: Would love to know the opinions on here now of Lambert genuinely?

Fair point.

Maybe I'm just being overly cautious, as Stokie said, we haven't exactly been pulling up trees the past few seasons.

This is ultimately why I don't understand the reaction.

It's not as if this group of players have been good for us, so why the concern that they are aloud to leave.

Well it’s better than putting your eggs in the players basket surely?

Agreed.

Can't really accurately judge it until October imo.

I'm more concerned/intrigued by the coaching and academy set-up moving forward.

Me neither. I’m struggling to understand why so many people are so supportive of a bunch of players who quite frankly have been on easy street. Mid table League One. We should be better than that.

As for concern with supporting Cook, he can’t succeed without it. Evans one arm behind the back chump change support was pathetic. The reality is that while Cook will get the resource he needs, he’d better succeed and show progress or he will be out. Americans don’t do failure.

It's less about them leaving, as it is who replaces them, we have to sign players of better quality than we let leave as else what's been the point ?

Signing a handful of better players, doable, signing two handfuls of better players, less doable, signing a whole squad of better players, unlikely.

Plus how do you mould a whole squad of new players into an effective team to hit the ground running in less than 86 days ?

We have completely failed season after season inLeague 1. Not once but twice. League 1!!! What ever Cook feels he needs to do to address that I back him. They can all go for me. Suspect a few will stay and be successful here still but if they all went I’d back Cook and the new owners/ management team.

Are we putting everything into the Cook basket though?
Yes, it may be down to him in terms of players released, but when it comes to recruitment we will have a whole new structure in place come the opening of the transfer window.
