Arrived in Portugal this morning supposedly for 2 weeks...so will her flight be on as normal coming back ?

Can she extend to 2 months. If she can then wouldn’t bother coming home to quarantine for 10 days.

It's a thought but, like she's going to quarantine!

Yes. I
If understood this all correctly, she'll have to have a nice mandatory extra stay in a comfy Travelodge on her return.

But I'd check first.

Sorry - hotels are red list returnees only.

There is a real risk that her flight won't operate, as demand for outwards flights is going to drop through the floor now, and airlines don't like flying empty one-way. There's not a lot she can do about it until she knows for sure...

Ah, if she's on a package trip, she's probably ok.

She will also need to book additional tests before she leaves Portugal, as she'll need to show proof of having done so on her health questionnaire to get into UK.

Quite a few people.

And you won't cheat the authorities with your mobile. They can do more to track you than you realise.

A story

Our friend's grown-up daughter lives in Windsor. For one of the last two royal weddings there she was out in the town, and saw a sniper on a roof. She took a picture.

When she went to look at the picture an hour or so later, it had disappeared from her phone.

She'll have had MI5 run the rule over her too of course.

Afraid not. The numbers involved in returning from amber countries aren't great.

You haven't met my Mum have you?
80...had the virus last June, 2 vaccinations and imagine she will want to live a little on her return, maybe a game of tennis.

Edit....and by the time she gets home will have taken about 1,000,000 tests in 2 and a bit weeks.

This was a possible known outcome for anyone going to Portugal and in fact was likely to happen at some point.

She will have to quarantine like everyone else. It's annoying but was always a huge risk once one has decided to holiday abroad.

I’m just really disappointed that nobody has started a thread about the holiday romance they’ve been having with an OAP who has a no good lazy layabout anarchist as a waste of space offspring! 😃

Thanks for making me giggle Stokie...I'll give you her number when she gets back so you can tell her...if she doesn't listen then I'll send her to the naughty step.

I take it this means the vaccination doesn't stop transmission?

"I take it this means the vaccination doesn't stop transmission?"

But you already know the research on this is ongoing.

It's not hard to take on board that over time fewer people catch a bad case of something with fewer problems and eventual eradication.

No one in their right mind has suggested vaccination would rid us of covid overnight.

You're back to pushing this thing and it makes no sense why.

It reduces, doesn’t stop transmission as has been widely publicised.

And research out today is showing the Indian variant may be leading to higher admissions to hospital

Not sure what was funny? The rules are very clear as were the obvious risks of going abroad at this time.

That's why many of us haven't been abroad.

The vaccine reduces transmission but it's irrelevant, the rules are in place for everyone. If everyone did as they pleased I'm sure you wouldn't be happy with that.
