Could the answer be Tom Lees? 11:06 - Jul 1 with 1634 viewswkj

Played for Sheffield Wednesday and best known for getting sent off against us and drawing the Ire of Warnock (instantly a hero)

He did finish last season on the end of a crunching ankle injury - but he's tall, got a few goals in him, regimented and a right ars*hole to play against.

Lees is currently without a club, and I think he would be a great addition to the squad (assuming he's not too badly stifled by his ankle)

To be fair...

"England Under-21 star Lees was shown a straight red card for a high tackle on Ipswich's Jay Tabb after 32 minutes."

Arguably, that wasn't necessarily what would usually be regarded as a 'high' tackle...

Quite, one would assume this kind of tackle would have been perfectly legal against someone of average height.

30 years old, not good enough for League 1 Sheffield Weds. Why would he be the answer to anything other than a hasbeens 11?

Agreed, 30 is a decent age for CH. however, if you are going to go for experience in that vital position (a good thing in my view), then go for somebody like Mowbray or a Wark. A top player on the way down, not somebody at the back end of his career who wasn’t that great in the first place.

Certainly wouldn't be a player you'd see have a statue put up for him - but certainly has been getting 30+ appearances a season since his first league appearance, also scoring at least once per season more often than not. Might not be the ticket to ride, though if we need a dependable experienced sort in the CD spot next year - I don't think he'd be a terrible freebee.

Could be worth a punt. I guess I’m a little ‘punt-averse’ after Lambert’s disastrous and lazy mud at wall approach. MM was pretty good at it though, but then by and large, he had a good eye for a player.

The way things are shaping up in the transfer market - I have a feeling anyone in a central defender role would be a punt at this stage. There really aren't a whole lot of stand-out 'realistic' targets that jump out.

I am sure there are better out there, but hard to really make predictions on what Ashton and Cook has to spend.

Don't disagree with you to be fair, he's always looked solid enough. As you say he's spent the past decade playing consistently in the Championship, and he's a good age. Wouldn't be against it on a 2 yr deal.

Think we could see someone come in on loan at CB.....not a youngster but someone not getting game time elsewhere
