Sir Bob took four years to get going, as did Sir Alex.

Bill Shankly took three. Sir Alf took two, as did Clough at Forest and Derby.

It'll click suddenly, and we'll give someone a hiding. It needs time.

I am sorry but even here (with our reputation for giving managers time) under the current investment, there is no way any manager is going to be given 4 years before getting it right.

Hopefully it will all come good very soon.

That's the modern way.

Cook should have at least 18 months to get it right but doesn't. So we're relying on the Ivory Tower having the patience that they probably can't afford to have, otherwise they appoint someone else, we enter yet another transition period and the pain of losing to the likes of Burton just goes on and on.

Please stop this shoiiiiite they weren't a league or 2 below where they were supposed to be. Our budget is enormous for the league, no excuses to not dominate

This stupid argument comparing Bobby Robson who made a slow start to his Town managerial career in a league containing Shankly's Liverpool, Revie's Leeds, a Manchester United side which could still call on Charlton, Best and Law, not to mention the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Manchester City etc to trying placate fans who get annoyed about losses to Burton or a last minute repreive against Morecambe really needs putting to bed.
Your other examples were all working at higher levels than the 3rd tier as well.

They are not comparable in any respect and shows how debased expectations have become - even when they've been raised.

Have you got any examples from the past 30 years?

I agree with your first sentence. The second is comically naive.

Sir Alf didn't actually take two years. In his second season they stormed to over 100 goals as champions so he must have got things right a bit earlier than that.

Suspect the new owners won’t give Cook four months, let alone four years. They will demand success, despite the talk.
