What a farce football is becoming.., 18:30 - Aug 16 with 2649 views | Chrisd | https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/58235195 It was taking enjoyment from seeing your club doing well and being a success both on and off the pitch which makes the game exciting. However, it seems the further you go up the footballing pyramid in the modern game the more likely you are to see you club in a financial mess as they chase the dream. If Barcelona can’t get it right with their footballing prowess and global commercial appeal, really what chance has any club got?! When are clubs going to collectively say enough is enough, player’s wages are simply ruining club’s futures and longevity. [Post edited 16 Aug 2021 18:34]

What a farce football is becoming.., on 18:33 - Aug 16 with 2577 views | ElderGrizzly | They had a wage bill of over £600m a few years ago and now it is almost £200m less and they are still in a mess. Any other club would have been put into special measures years ago Yet Barca try to play the ‘honest club’ when they’ve financially doped for much longer than PSG or Man City [Post edited 16 Aug 2021 18:34]

Players wages alone are 103% of the club’s turnover and they aren’t alone, there’s so many clubs across various leagues in Europe that are doing it. They really are jeopardising club’s futures, surely they have got to come to their senses at some point, it can’t keep going on down this path? [Post edited 16 Aug 2021 18:39]

What a farce football is becoming.., on 18:44 - Aug 16 with 2464 views | ArnieM | Lap: couldn’t agree more. I’ve been saying it for years, and maintain that Sky tv has ruined the game and created this perfect storm. Clubs will go bust , cl7bs high up the chain. But when the lower leagues fold it will have an impact on those above. Players are in the main greedy and certainly their agents. The game is nothing like it was in the 1970’s / 80’s and it’s not better now. Problem is anyone under 40yrs doesn’t appreciate what the game was really like before Sky money. It’s was far more of an even playing field in those days . You used to start the season and say , “ I wonder who will w8n the league this season”? …not now . The FA cup was a brilliant competition for giant killing and unfashionable clubs to make it all the way to Wembley…not now. The game is “ plastic”, largel6 predictable, elitist, and frankly boring and bloody expensive at the top level. It’s crap.

Exactly that. Those clubs had financially over exerted themselves and they needed a higher level of finance to be generated and the Super League was the answer. Pitiful.

Wasn't it £3 Billion per club to take part in that SL.

What a farce football is becoming.., on 20:06 - Aug 16 with 2150 views | jayessess | Well, Barcelona can't get it right because they're been run into the ground by total clowns, mainly. They could operate within their revenues quite comfortably and still be the best team in La Liga and competitive in the Champions League. That said, I do think it's surprising that most club owners don't impose financial rules that enable them to consistently make a profit. It wouldn't be hard to set up a system where registering for UEFA/FA competitions was conditional on adhering to strict financial regulations. As in you just can't register for this tournament until your wage bill is X etc. The last salary cap only actually fell apart because the EFL hadn't adhered to its collective bargaining commitments with the PFA.

Many top Spanish clubs over the years have been presided over by egomaniacs, spending money to massage egos over any thought about sustainability. This has been going on for years, from Jesus Gil at Atletico to a Russian chancer at Santander (I don't remember his name), Leondoiro at Deportivo, Perez and Mendoza at Madrid, Bartomeu at Barça. The difference now is that authorities are no longer turning a blind eye. That has meant Barça's spending under the Bartomeu regime has caught up with them and Perez at Madrid is taking La Liga boss to court as he won't have his ego questioned.

This is so true. It has only been a matter of time till it all caught up with them.

People have tried to explain it to you but you're like a stubborn old man who refuses to listen. Wish you well with that, like Barca's finances it will eventually catch up with you 😉

What a farce football is becoming.., on 19:33 - Aug 24 with 1159 views | Sigint | Messi's leaving from the club is a very controversial topic. Some support him; others blame him. I think that should have happened. There is nothing eternal, and this man needed a change. Even if the money was the reason for his leaving, he remains the best player anyway, and the best player deserves a lot of money. It matters that the lion messi wife https://sportslibro.com/football/soccer-news/lionel-messi-wife-antonella-roccuzz was with him and his whole family supports him. Nevertheless, will support him wherever he is and with whatever club he would not play. [Post edited 26 Aug 2021 9:24]
