Coaching team - we need experience there. And an assistant who isn’t afraid to voice a differing opinion to Cook.

Otherwise keeper and defensive midfielder - possibly two of the latter as we’re clearly screwed if the number one DM gets injured.

New keeper is a must.

Our defence needs improving - very obviously. If Edmundson and Nsiala's injuries are not serious, I probably wouldn't bring additional bodies in. But if they are, it may be justified. That Wilson at Plymouth, for example. He could do a job in this division......

I don't really know who's doing the defensive coaching at the moment, but I'm not aware of us having a coach with a defensive specialism, qualifications and experience. It may be I'm wrong. If I'm not wrong, then WTF?

Many were obsessed with "Structure" as soon as Lambert mentioned it. I found that odd, because previously whatever he said was dismissed or mocked. Surely the key is that we get the right players in, and coach them in the right way. Cook has made his decisions now on player transfers - I can't see many more coming in, although I pray there's a keeper coming. But coaching is just obvious isn't it? Do we have a qualified and experienced defensive coach? If not, why not? It's not like we have senior pros in the defence anymore, as Cook ripped them out and binned them.

An experienced defensive midfielder is a must have in my opinion.
Hard tackling who can break up the opposition play and give licence to allow the other midfielders to join the attack.
We lack support in and around the box.So much of our good attacking play then breaks down when the crosses come into the penalty area.

We have no village green, or a shop. It's very, very quiet. I can walk to the pub.

We need a GK desperately who is commanding of his defence and can punch or catch a cross (westwood) for example as we haven't had this since Bart.
2 more CBs lime burgess, who should be captain by now.
A complete CDM who can put in a tackle and not get lost when he gets a booking (evans) and another RM if we are sending dobra out to back up Burns. Someone like Kyle Edwards would be great. We can win this league just need to get people fit and hitting ground running 🏃‍♂️ 💪

Bart was very good for us and is a very decent keeper, but lets not pretend he was commanding when dealing with crosses.

I'm still shocked that I've seen people claim Holy does let alone that Bart did.

For his height Holy, he's awful In the box.

Keepers..especially league 1 will make.errors. but we cant gift free headers.. that's now 3 goals conceded from free headers..

This is where the mistake is made, it doesn't mean because they are 'big' that they are good at dealing with crosses. It's about their own confidence levels and starting position so they are able to come for the ball. A keeper isn't able to come for every cross, but I think some believe because Holy is 6'9'' he is able too! I always thought Fabien Barthez and Bruce Grobbelaar were both very good at dealing with crosses and both of those were around 6ft - so not overly big for goalkeepers, but they seemed to be able to judge the flight of the ball well and knew when to come and when to remain on their line. Yes, they made wrong judgements at times, but in the main when they did come to collect a cross they were decisive and did it without causing too much havoc.

New keeper for sure given what I’ve seen so far.

We also need someone to do the dirty defensive work in midfield. In our first match I was impressed with the Evans/Harper partnership but it’s been downhill ever since. Opposition teams just go straight through us and have far too much space.

If we do bring in further players it’s going to cost us. It’s a sellers market at this stage of the window!

I agree about the keeper, but Tom Carroll is the defensive midfielder we've been looking for.

Carroll
Burns Fraser Evans Edwards

I'd like to see a 4 1 4 1. With something like this.
