Cook's Old Boys 08:45 - Aug 30 with 872 views | gramps | If we sign Walton and Morsy how many players and staff who have previously played for, or worked with Paul Cook have joined us since he came? A list would be interesting!

Because it worked before, doesn't mean it will happen again. Maybe the players like his laid back approach? Maybe they see it as an easy option?

Laid back 😂😂😂😂 The bloke literally ripped up an entire squad because they had nothing about them, desire etc to progress. Beat him with a no wins stick, but laid back. Behave

Cook's Old Boys on 09:01 - Aug 30 with 747 views | Mullet | Walton is apparently keen on us because of Keeley. Keeley, Burgess and Chaplin all have Pompey links Burgess and Roberts were at Stanley Evans, Roberts and Craney he'll know from Wigan What's wrong with a manager signing players they know and trust or people only from one part of the world? Wasn't a problem previously was it? Hmmmm.

Isn't this just what happens in football? Didn't Mick do. Pretty much exactly the same when he came here?

Indeed. The OP wanted a list didn't he?

Cook's Old Boys on 09:17 - Aug 30 with 621 views | Sharkey | Why is everyone so defensive? The OP was simply an interesting question, no? It must be unusual for a manager even to have the opportunity to sign so many people he trusts from first-hand experience. It suggests he prefers to have players he knows about from how they train, rather than being impressed by opponents he's seen in games. It also shows that he's managed at this level for quite a while. Graham Potter, for example, would not have the same option of signing players he's known at previous clubs, and nor, conversely, would Phil Brown.

They weren't his players. Would they be so keen to rejoin a manager who was ruthless with them? Would they want to pair up again with a manager who takes no sh1te from his players? I would suggest not.

In a hypothetical time machine scenario Shane Supple would be very happy to play for Cook. He retired utterly disillusioned with players who didn't care after defeats. Some people take pride in their work, want to do their best and progress, others want to find ways to have it easy and coast. Cook is recruiting players who he knows have that hunger, and has bombed out many who he believed didn't show enough desire to work hard and improve last season. Listen to how Bonne talks about this opportunity: we've not had a player that determined to give absolutely everything since Stephen Hunt. And we haven't had a team that fought and pressed since he left. What we have had is a team that passed it around, passed it back, passed it around, passed it back, wandered up to their penalty area and passed it from side to side with nobody willing to risk taking responsibility of shooting. Again and again and again. That has changed. Now we need to tighten up at the back.
Cook's Old Boys on 09:59 - Aug 30 with 486 views | Churchman | He can sign up his cat for all I care - and stick him in goal if he wants. Can’t do any worse than the bloke he’s brought in. Seriously, it’s up to him to bring in who he likes, if the budget is there. He has had as much financial backing as any other club in this division. More in many cases. Most other clubs have made significant changes, so there are no more excuses to hide behind in my view. It is up to him and the players he’s brought in to start winning games.
