The Wire was superb and Omar was the best thing in it.
Helped demonstrate how well the US do crime dramas and spend time and effort on all the characters, not just the disfunction title character or the relationship between the main character and the sidekicks. We had nothing like it over here. Maybe the odd drama, but no long running series can touch the likes of the Wire and The Sopranos. Perhaps Top Boy or Peaky Blinders are the closest to get to that kind of depth nowadays. |  | | |
