Except for the good goals that we scored in each of the previous two seasons. We had good players for League 1 then too and scored some good goals.

It's amazing how easily people confuse optimism with things actually being better, although I suppose that also helps to explain Brexit to a degree.

It might be the optimism, but it does seem to me to be a while since we scored goals like Bonne’s header on Saturday and his left footer against MK Dons.

Attacking wise, we’re a million times better than recent years. We actually look a goal threat every week for a start.

That’s not to say that we haven’t been an absolute shambles defensively though but I think there’s no point denying the few positives of this season that are there.

As Steve said, we've scored plenty of good goals over the past 2 seasons as well but given how disappointing those seasons were we've pushed them to the backs of our minds. Judge's goal in the home game against Blackpool was as good as anything we've scored this season, as were some of our goals in the away fixture there. I've blocked quite a bit of the rest of the season out but I don't think the goals this season have been anything out of the ordinary in terms of quality.

Again, I have to disagree with the last sentence there Herbs. Bonnes header the other day, Bonnes goal against MK Dons from KVYs cross field pass, Penney’s strike and Frasers goal on the first day of the season are all goals well above the average for a club outside the premier league.

Not even sure what that means. Sides at all levels score headers from crosses and goals from outside the box. I think the end of last season we'd got so used to not even creating let alone scoring that we've all gone a bit giddy.

Well, just last season is the top of my head:

- Chambers vs Blackpool
- Edwards vs Blackpool
- Lankester vs Sunderland
- Judge vs Blackpool

And there were a few others.

Adding Bonne ,who looks really sharp, is an improvement but I’m yet to be totally convinced that we can score lots of goals. There’s plenty of attacking play but it’s not quite leading to loads of clear chances. Hopefully that improves.

They do. But the build up to those goals was good.

That Fraser goal was superb football that a lot of teams would be proud of.

I feel like because we can’t defend, the good parts of the season are being deliberately ignored by some of our fanbase (not necessarily aimed at you with that).

They've been decent goals, don't get me wrong, but I don't see them as being out of the ordinary. The pass from Kenlock and the finish from Judge at home to Blackpool last season was as good as anything we've seen this year, imo. The move for Jackson's goal at Gillingham the season before was probably better than anything we've yet strung together this year
It's nice that we're scoring goals and seeing glimpses of good play, I just don't see the need to talk it up beyond what it is.

It feels like it, probably comparing to how the last 2 seasons ended however we scored more goals in the first 7 matches of the last 2 seasons compared to this year.

And both of those seasons we were scoring goals AND winning games at this stage. Of course it all then went to pot and hopefully this season will do the opposite. I just think there's a lot of over exaggerating going on in terms of the football and performances this season. Some of it has been abject and the good stuff has been bursts.

I think Romford is right, the goals this year have been better than much before.

You've just listed 2 goals in 2 seasons there, which is about right. We look far brighter this year, goals are of a better quality.

However, we have been a car crash in trying not to concede, so far.

I've listed the first 2 that came to mind, I'm sorry I can't remember every decent goal we've scored over the past 2 years. We'll have to agree to disagree on the overall quality of the goals and how much brighter we look. There are some positives for sure but some of them are being massively overplayed.

I think our crossing says a lot. I don't remember seeing balls like Coulson's on Saturday on a regular basis in recent years, nor Fraser's from the left that just evaded someone at the back post (carbon copy of Bonne's goal against MK Dons).

Fraser's goal against Morecambe was a cut above what we've seen in league one until now as well, both in terms of the assist and finish.

Not to go overboard, but you're definitely right.

Absolutely. What on earth is a million times better about scoring fewer? It's as if many people don't understand even the basic rules of football...
