Hurst was given one transfer window and signed a team of lower league players who took us to relegation and the verge of the play offs at the level below.

Cook was given one transfer window and given a budget to sign players from the level above. If those players had kept us on the verge of the play offs in League 1 then I am sure Cook would still be manager. Instead we are well off the pace in mid table. How much further backwards would a manager have to take a club for you to think they were not good enough?

Surprisingly (or not) PC’s tenure is the average for a manager in the Championship. It’s a bit longer in L1, but only just. They normally get a year.

It’s very hard to defend his continuation. Clearly the board saw what we could all see and obviously weren’t prepared to go on blind faith.
