Feel for you. I tested positive on Wednesday, just as £200 worth of Xmas food shopping turned up. Now can't have family over Xmas Day and can't go to see the other half of the family on Boxing Day. Horrible. And all for a 1-1 draw against Sunderland. Happy Xmas to you and I hope you manage to get through it ok. Cheers.

Sorry to hear that. Do you think it was as a result of going to the Sunderland game?

I got ill and tested positive last week, Christmas day is day 10. But so did half my fam and the other half have had it recently, we are all together anyway. The good news is it means my elderly in-laws aren't coming for dinner. Result.

So a taxi with some of the food could be useful, with a cheque for the appropriate amount going the other way.

Sorted.

Hope you get well soon.

Sorry to hear that.

Trust you can get food in. If there is a problem with that, say where you are and someone on here will be able to help.

The bad news, for you, is if you test negative you only have to isolate for 7 days so you can reinvite the outlaws.

I tested positive and have just finished my 10 days so out of isolation, wife tested positive the day before me so is also out but the kids were determined to stay COVID free to protect their Christmas after we all had it last year. Eldest daughter tested positive on the 21st so once again family gathering all messed up and its just the 4 of us again. My kids are massively disappointed! Brothers son also tested positive so they are in the same boat! COVID can do one!

Haha, we did a lateral flow test this morning. Negative - all good, bar the fact we are now lumbered with the ghastly, annoying brother in law tomorrow rambling on about his I’ll health and Leicester City, so I understand where you are coming from re the in laws😃

Tested positive last night with a lateral flow so have done a PCR this morning. Wife (who came out of self-isolation) on Monday and two kids all negative. I'm self isolating.

No visitors on Christmas Day (my mum and step dad were due to come) and it probably means I won't go to the in-laws in Gloucestershire from 27th so I'll be here on me own for a few days. Could be worse but I'm not happy.

For those without food in, the Indian takeaway in Braintree we normally use sent me a text yesterday saying that they're open Christmas Day and Boxing Day so give The Ruby a bell if you're in the area.

When do you get the PCR back? Did you drive to a centre?

Sorry for the quizzing but might be handy for those of us who are unsure ot the steps required in that situation.

Hope you don't feel too rough.

Cheers for the well wishes guys and of course Merry Christmas to you all.

I actually had a neighbour drop of some bags for me this afternoon so I should be ok.

I live up in Scotland (Ayrshire) so the isolation rules are a bit different so essentially I'm a write off until 3rd Jan.

Symptoms are not too heavy at the moment, throat and coughing. Fingers crossed it doesn't get worse.

All the best guys.

Get well soon. A couple of people I know have caught it in the last week and the symptoms have not progressed beyond what you have. Fingers crossed for you.

Just to answer the questions, I drove to my local test centre in Braintree for a 12.00-12.30pm slot and got the results back about midday today (26th), which is pretty good all things considered, and am positive.

As I am in England, the NHS Covid app says isolate for the next 9 days and the text from NHS trace says isolate for 7 so take your pick. Given I've had slight symptoms for about 5 days now I will keep doing lateral flow tests and when I get two days consecutively negative I will stop isolating. Did one earlier today, the positive line is as faint as can be, but definitely there.

I know you're only joking, but treasure your families folks, even their annoying habits and the arguments, because you don't half miss them when they're gone, esp if you're the last one left standing.
