Writing from the car park at the cemetery. Quieter this year than last - whether that be covid related, I obviously have no idea.
Taking a few moments out from the cat constantly trying to eat the Christmas tree lights, or Yasmin popping bubble wrap (despite having plenty of these brightly coloured ones that you seem to see everywhere now but effectively just do the same thing).
Having these few moments of quiet father and son time to wish him a Happy Christmas, hoping he’s enjoying the party that Uncle Bobby and Uncle Kevin are overseeing, and hoping he’s remembered to welcome Uncle Paul for his first one this year. He’d have been six and a half now, so apologies that this will have been the 6th probably repetitive rambling Christmas wish from me from this very place.
He’d have probably just been getting to enjoy going to Portman Road, with some big crowds - potentially exciting times for kids that age to be getting into it all. What other traits of character would he have had by now? Of course, I’ll never know, but I know I still love him whatever kind of lad he’d have turned out to be. He’d have loved seeing Yasmin performing in panto for the first time this year, I’m sure, as she would’ve loved having him watching.
Make sure you enjoy the time you have with your loved ones - especially in these times of vast uncertainty. For those isolating currently, I hope you are better soon and able to enjoy family and friends gathering, albeit slightly postponed. Talking of which, I’d better stop rambling to get back as we’re off to KJ’s sister’s for the rest of the day.
A very merry Christmas to you all, from the house of hoppy, KJ and Yasmin (plus the boys when they choose to grace us with their presence!) and thank you for being all part of the TWTD collective, that have been so supportive, friendly, funny and a massive waste of time over the years. Wouldn’t have you any other way! Thanks also to Phil, Gav and Mark particularly, for keeping this place of dysfunctionals functioning!

What a lovely post. Thank you. It encouraged me think with smiles about my late mum who adored Christmas. You are right about appreciating the time you have with loved ones.
As for the Christmas tree, the two new kittens have given it a right beating. I think they’ve enjoyed Christmas, even if the tree and decorations haven't!
