How rife is covid in the Ipswich area right now? 12:56 - Apr 4 with 3208 views | Illinoisblue | Coming over in a couple of weeks. Have to provide proof of negative test before you can even check in for flight back to the U.S. Fly back on 24th and don’t really want to get stuck in UK as daughter has knee surgery scheduled for the 28th. Are people still wearing masks? My assumption is no and that people are getting on with things. Same is true over here but our case numbers are lowest they’ve been in 9 months and all indicators are trending down.

How rife is covid in the Ipswich area right now? on 13:00 - Apr 4 with 2363 views | wkj | People barely wore masks in October when I was working in Town Center, so I would imagine it is fairly uncommon to see masks now. That said, in October, a number of the bigger businesses in the town like Direct Line were still not operating shifts in their offices, it was very quiet. [Post edited 4 Apr 2022 13:06]

How rife is covid in the Ipswich area right now? on 13:07 - Apr 4 with 2308 views | Dubtractor | Don't know any official numbers, but based on my work colleagues there is definitely a lot of it about. Mainly mild cases, but I guess that's not relevant in your situation. That said, I get the impression that a huge proportion of cases are coming from schools rather than social situations, and I assume you'll be avoiding schools! Mask wearing is almost non existent now.

One small family wedding and the Wigan game will be about it for me , I think. I wouldn’t be worried at all ordinarily - if daughter wasn’t getting surgery, having to extend my stay for a week wouldn’t be an issue. Time to roll the dice!

How rife is covid in the Ipswich area right now? on 13:21 - Apr 4 with 2243 views | ElderGrizzly | An average of 84,000 cases a day currently in the UK. It's a mess. I've got 4 staff off with it currently. We (FCDO view) genuinely believe Biden will remove all testing restrictions for entry back to the USA from the 18th April.

Well if that April 18 date holds I’ll be very happy! Here’s hoping…

Purely selfishly I really really hope he does it. I think right now, domestically, people are obsessed with gas prices and inflation. Not sure how much of a “win” it would be for Biden to loosen/abolish entry requirements if nobody’s really bothered about covid any more.

How rife is covid in the Ipswich area right now? on 14:55 - Apr 4 with 1999 views | bluelagos | ONS figures for England are 1 in 13 are currently infected. No reason why Ipswich would be materially different - might be more detail on their site if you care to look. You'll see the odd mask from people but 95% of people aren't wearing them atm. Not looking good for airline industry, those wanting to travel, & many other industries as well as medical services, unfortunately. Yet still so many just want to stick fingers in ears while singing "lalala" -

It's more of the hit he takes if he doesn't. GOP will throw even more crap at him. But yes, from when I was in Atlanta, Baltimore and Florida the last month it appears you are as fed up of it all as the UK is. The other major bonus for you would not having to wear a mask for the entire flight to AND from the UK as USA federal rules apply both directions until April 18th.

To be clear, from a selfish comfort perspective it is a bonus. Having just done 4 transatlantic flights and 4 internal flights in the US, a mask on for 10 hours (and sleeping in one) is not fun. As you'll know i'm one of the more pro-safety posters on Covid on here.
How rife is covid in the Ipswich area right now? on 15:34 - Apr 4 with 1878 views | Cheltenham_Blue | I nearly didn't come on Saturday with the increased risk. (There's no-one to cover my job if I go sick), I'm fully expecting to test positive by Friday.

Just flown to San Diego via Dallas and I have to say the mask wasn’t too annoying. Each flight is two and a bit hours so nothing too troublesome. Almost 9 to London is much different of course as well as having to wear it for a few hours in the airport beforehand. Come on sleepy Joe, wake up and get this done!

Indeed. An eye mask and a face mask i'm sure was a sight :)

I can imagine! I am completely unable to sleep on planes so no eye mask for me, alas.

Hope that’s the case and it continues a downward trend. Whatever we did over here it seems to have worked; state of Wisconsin had 10,000 cases a day in January. Down to 300 a day in March.

If testing even without symptoms was required for travel or visiting hospital that’s what I’d do. Currently it’s not so I won’t. I’m double vaxd and boosted and have been wearing a mask for the last two years. Cases here have plummeted (from 10,000 a day in January to 300 a day in March). This is the point where we start to get on with our lives.

Presumably what you did was quite similar to what the UK is doing now? Obviously the more people that get it the more case numbers will reduce shortly after.
