Another brexit bonus 16:57 - Apr 6 with 1821 views | HARRY10 | "Labour shortages largely caused by Brexit are set to make Britain more dependent on food imports, MPs have warned." " https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/brexit-food-imports-labour-shorta Neil Parish, the Conservative MP who chairs the committee, said: “In 2021 farmers faced an extraordinary situation – crops were being left to rot in the fields and healthy pigs were culled due to a lack of workers. The same committee also found in January that "blind optimism" shown by ministers about their plan for post-Brexit farming subsidies could drive UK farms out of business and also increase reliance on food imports." The reality is that the 'bigger boys' will continue to shift production abroad, while the smaller concerns pack up, or go bankrupt. [Post edited 6 Apr 2022 17:24]

Another brexut bonus on 17:00 - Apr 6 with 1785 views | Swansea_Blue | I've just been trawling the nonsense of Twitbook and stumbled on O'Brien's interview of Starmer today. Very good. I usually think O'Brien is a bit smug, but this is an example of how politicians should be challenged. Whether we'll see Labour brave enough to actually address the massive Brexit elephant in the room is another matter.

Another brexit bonus on 17:17 - Apr 6 with 1721 views | HARRY10 | It's this idea that red wall voters and brexiteers are too thick to understand anything much beyond 'master knows best' - so we have to read carefully and not upset them, while the country goes down the pan. Much of the shortage of labour is down to Englands cretinous housing policy. A laissez faire attitude has meant if you own your own house on the north you can not sell and move to anywhere south of the Watford gap. The smug whine, that they cannot get staff in the hotels, pubs etc along the South and East Anglian coast. They is nowhere for those staff to live ! Farm cottages for workers were not built out of generosity, nor were the council house that were built after the war. They were built to house workers, close to where they worked. Much as the mill towns 'oop north', and in South Wales near the pits. Until Labour speaks out, and expose this 'property owning, trickle down effect' sh ithousery then there will not be the radical changes needed [Post edited 6 Apr 2022 17:28]

A global pandemic and an inflation pumping war on Eurpean soil... fate really couldn't have done a bigger number on a small island nation leaving a large multinational trading bloc if it tried.

Yep, that's why a small island nation with a very unproductive economy leaving a large multinational trading bloc was always idiotic. It didn't need fate to do much more than to be fate.

Who needs training? Just get those laggards out in the fields snagging turnips. They need to appreciate their freedom from EU oppression.

No-one is interested, Brexiteers' commitment to Brexit does not go as far as taking up the jobs that the EU worker exodus has left behind....

err, where will they live ? Young East Europeans will share a small flat for 6 months/a year because of the fun, difference in wage etc. Are you expecting a family to share a caravan so dad can pick fruit ? That is not possible for anyone with a family. This has been going on for over a decade. The ready supply of the above has masked that problem. The UKs deeply flawed housing policy has now been exposed, and we are seeing the UK being unable to cope. Tell me where a family north of Luton cam sell up and move south of London to take up a job. Or where students can take a simmer job when all available accommodation is either second homes, holidays homes or Airbnb. This is only going to get worse

Just a typical comment only ever moan but offer no solutions. Sit on your hands and then hold them out for a handout, work pays in case you hadn't noticed. If Eastern Europeans move about why the heck can't the people of this country do the same, it's not all about picking fruit there is other jobs as well. Do us all a favour stop posting moans, come to the table with solutions or is that too hard compared to the usual gumph.

Where do you even start with this? I was going to ask why you're asking for solutions for something that was supposed to be great, but that seemed too shallow. And then I thought it's a bit odd that you're asking Harry to help you out when Brexiteers have been slagging 'remoaners' off for years, but that seems too divisive. But I think you've unintentionally made a decent point. It's clear the brexiteers in charge haven't got a clue how to fix what they've broken, so they do need to reach out to and build bridges to find a way through this mess and minimise damage. There's no sign they will though and they've steadfastly refused to so far, as their position in power depends on stoking the brexit division. So if our leaders won't work pragmatically with others, we need to change them and vote in people who put the needs of the population and the country first (whoever that is, although realistically it can only be Labour or a coalition). There is no other solution as a lot of the problems are structural and not possible to change. The ultimate cause is the ideology, and that's the easiest thing to change.

Gazzer does seem to have missed the point that it was he who made the proposal. It is a bit rich to suggest something then have a go at others for not thinking it through for him. Make the proposal Gazzer, and then explain how it will be implemented. Not accuse others of not having solutions to your ideas. For me, I have come up with the concept of an intergalactic spacecraft that has 17 bars and and a dozen strip clubs. I've done the hard bit, now I just need someone to iron out the odd bits I haven't covered in detail. [Post edited 7 Apr 2022 22:30]

It's always someone else's fault isn't it? The whole project was sold on that basis. Anyway, good idea but that's sounding suspiciously like a beer volcano and stripper factory. Are you sure you've ironed out the IP and any trademark issues? We don't want anyone else dragging this board into disrepute - it's bad enough with Sheeran's court shenanigans!

I have a solution, posted regularly. Don't leave the EU, now re-join. So explaining why UK workers cannot move to where the work is dismissed, with the same level of ignorance that brought in Brexit. The idea that so many UK workers are happy to sit on their hands is as absurd, as it is stupid. I will continue to post about how Brexit is fcking up the country, the economy and peoples lives because it is continuing to happen. And will continue to do so. If you don’t like then you can use your time by looking up the lies and promises made by Farage, Rees-Mogg , Johnson and the rest of the ragbag of Russian funded traitors. Because be under no illusion young rightie boy. It was Russian money which funded the leave campaign. Putin using useful idiots in his attempt to cling onto power by weakening the EU. The above three and others were well paid for their treasonous acts. What's your excuse ? Blind stupidly ? And another day, another brexit fck ip "the Road Haulage Association said HMRC is “continuing to have problems” with its new post-Brexit GVMS system for customs declarations, without which lorries cannot move goods between Britain and the EU." "A 23-mile coastbound stretch of the M20 was closed from junction eight (Maidstone) to junction 11 (Westenhanger) heading for the Port of Dover or Eurotunnel as part of Operation Brock, causing chaos on surrounding local roads." 7/4/22 And the holiday season has barely begun - must make you proud to be a brexiter
