Correct me if I'm mistaken, but I don't remember hearing it at Portman Road in the last few months.

Good! Or should that be "so good"...

But yeah, nice not to hear that every friggen' match.

I hate it.

It has no relevance to anything and reminds me of my late father's 8-Track thing he had in his van when I was a kid.

I'm sure he only had the two bloody cassettes in his van.

I had to listen to Neil Diamond or Peters and Lee. Those were the choices.

It's because sportspeople in general have terrible taste in music.

It really shouldn't have been a surprise we were thumped 4-1 by Bolton after that.

I think it was because it was so bland hat N.Ireland started singing it, since it's so entirely free of any possible sectarian connotation. So they perhaps had an excuse for singing it. But nobody else.

It's not just sport that is obsessed with it - every gig I play that bloody song is the first request we/I get

It's surprising that we ONLY conceded 4, tbh.

Mrs Badger runs a fortnightly karaoke night down the juicer and has only two rules:
1. No repeats
2. No Meatloaf, no Westlife, no Bon Jovi.

Every so often one of the local yoofs gets in and 'raps' 'Sweet Caroline' much to the consternation of one of the 'professionals' who has tried to claim it as 'his' song.

Its awful. Like so many instances of football authorities missing the point and trying to repeat thigns that were spontaneous. It became a thing during the cricket world cup win, and everyone has sued it since to try to recreate that vibe. Its pathetic and annoying.

I don't understand anybody's obsession with this song.

15 years ago, Diamond revealed that he was inpired to write the song (in 1969) after seeing a photograph of JFK's 12-year-old (second) daughter astride her horse, Macaroni.

A love song ... to a 12-year-old. Yukk.

Agreed. I don't get it.

If England want to "use it" then fine but what has it got to do with Ipswich.

If it has stopped to PR, I'm glad!

Totally. What's the relevance ffs? To anything actually, not just Town. It's desperately pathetic, as are the clowns who belt it out totally out of tune and amazingly out of time too (it's not a difficult one to get right ffs).

I read somewhere else (can't remember where) that the inspiration for the song was actually his then wife but he was looking for a 3 syllable name for the chorus when he saw the picture of Caroline Kennedy. Not sure what the truth is though!
