I'm off to Rattlesden tomorrow.
Anything to look out for?

Do the High Street. It's free, and you get some good views of the village from up there.

You can do worse than a pint in the Brewers. You'll pay a fair bit for it, but it's Farrow & Ball on the walls so you get what you pay for.

Almost wrecked my ankle in a rabbit hole on the football pitch there playing for Claydon U15s back in the late 90s.

A short detour will take you past Bill Wyman's place - Gedding Hall.

I heard there was a bit of an "underground" scene there.
Any chance I could lose my virginity?

Some pad that. I cycled past it the other day.

That would be the moles.

Or maybe the rabbits.

I fell in a ditch in Rattlesden.
Be careful of ditches.

I did that my first night living in Chevington.

Had a few beers in the Greyhound and bought a takeaway Indian.

On the way home I got bitten by a horse and then fell into a ditch cos there were no street lights and it was pitch black.

A blast from the past.

As a very young boy I used to cycle there from Woolpit.

It seemed like miles but I just google mapped it and it’s 2.5 miles!

There was a fairly steep hill as I recall.?

Thanks - happy memories.

They serve a decent pint in the Five Bells. Proper locals pub...beer, crisps and a pickled eggs. Take your boules for a game of le traditional Suffolk pentanque.

Snakes.

We have no village green, or a shop. It's very, very quiet. I can walk to the pub.

I've walked into those pubs and have witnessed everyone in the place stop what they were doing/talking about and turn around and stare.

Some will make you welcome, some will treat you poorly because your family haven't lived there for 600 years.

Some will still see you as an 'outsider' some 10 years down the line...

I know, I guess you have to make the effort first don't you? but sometimes you wonder if you'd get more respect by going full bruce lee on their culchy arses.

"make the effort first"

Tired that, they see it as a sign of weakness.

Instead, you have to spot the one the most webbing on their digits and go for that one first.

It's the only way to gain respect.
