My understanding of the player attributes we will need to improve the squad, made by our impressive young manager straight after the end of last season;

- more versatility achieved
- more pace achieved
- more height achieved
- more physicality achieved
- more left foot's achieved
- more 'leaders' only D.Ball as far as I can see
- free kick specialist not at all as far as I can see

Over all it's been very well done - but do we have a better free kick/penalty taker which could prove vital this season.

Should this be the focus of any remaining arrivals ?

COYB - hope my 60'th year of support a great one

Maybe Davis can take free kicks? Left backs often are dead ball specialists.

I think the recruitment policy of improving a squad is every managers recruitment policy and always has been.

I don’t think it was the delivery of free kicks / corners last year that was the issue, it was more the movement and willingness to attack the ball. Hopefully this has been addressed and we’ll see players making runs from the edge of the box rather than standing static next to the keeper this season

Hope your 60th year of support is a good one too Old TB.

I like the profiles of who we've added, in terms of leadership we have Edmundson, Morsy, Ball who spring to mind, and Evans too. I expect it'll be rare that they're all on the pitch togteher, but we have a calming head in Aluko. Hopefully Ladapo can provide some leadership at the top end of the pitch, I'm not too sure what he's like as a character. Woolfenden needs to as well, it's an area of his game I would like to see come out more. He's passive at times.

Indeed, and that fed into a confidence thing where no-one really expected us to score from a set piece.

Based solely on Saturdays viewing only... movement in the box at set pieces was still incredibly static. It was so bad we decided to hit corners at the near post and gave up putting the ball in the air.

I can't see how we've had all summer and have shown the same standards in a game 1 week away from season starting.

For all the signings... we just have to score goals from set pieces. There hasn't been 1 side promoted from this level without that input.

Absolutely spot on. When did any of our defenders attack the cross into the box from corner kicks and actually get a header in. At least Chambers and Smith used to get on the end of a few of these in their time here / and score !

This is probably quite boring and Norwood related so some won't like it, but when movement at set pieces is discussed I think back to the first game last season.

Norwood and Bonne come on and combine for the late equalizer. We then get a corner which I think was the last kick, and the only player with any thought not to stand still and crowd the six yard box is Norwood, watching it back he's constantly on the move and ends up getting on the end of it and narrowly heads wide.

It's not rocket science, we just need to be less predicable and probably a bit braver.

It was also telling that when Burgess came into the side later in the season we had a bit more threat. There were two disallowed goals, one where Bonne tapped in from his header and another where he 'scored' directly.
