So, come 2025 we'll see water bills increase dramatically then 15:35 - Aug 26 with 970 viewshomer_123

Worth noting that little has been done over the last 40 to 50 years to address this:

"Mr Eustice said it was "regrettable" that the issue hadn't been addressed over the last 40 or 50 years."

So we're going to reduce the overflow usage by 25% despite it having increased 2500%+ in the past five years?

Yeah, seems like that'll do the trick.

The increase doesn't look too drastic (12 GBP per year if they keep to it) but the point about investment is sound.

The water companies were privatised in 1981 so the majority of those years where the issue hasn't been address was when they were a private entity (either 83% or 66% of the time depending on if you use 40 or 50 years).

People still pay their water bill?!

It’s a human right in the UK, they shouldn’t be charging anyone and they can’t turn it off.

Since privatisation the water companies have made a combined profit and dividend payments of £64 Billion, why are we having to pay more to fund this?

If we all stop paying the madness will end.

It really is simple.

If you want to remove Corporations from exploiting essential services the government or power structures in place ain’t gonna do it (Hell, they skipped along with privatisation in the first place).

The only language these pricks understand is money. Voting with your wallet is a personal and fairly easy way to protest. Like we’re (hopefully) about to do with out energy bills in October because SPOILER ALERT energy should be in public control too.
