Other than the day of the funeral all sport, entertainment etc should have carried on, allowing those participating and watching to pay their respects if they choose to do so.

I didn't know Liz that well, but I'm convinced she would have wanted the common people to enjoy their leisure time as they normally would and maybe raise a glass, sing a song.

I didn't vote for 'em, and I'm not gonna vote for 'em. But it wasn't their decision to cancel the football - that was the EFL. And are you really suggesting they should ban all employers from operating their business on the day of the funeral? I really don't understand what the government have done wrong on this particular issue (there are many other issues, granted. More than this board has space for...)
