well he deserves some good news after all that bad luck with his pipeline.

And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show

That’s why it was so terrible, when he found out some hardliners had broken into the Kremlin & had stolen next years election results. Poor man!

Apparently he signed his decision, sorry the referendum results, off last night. This is going to be announced with a ceremony at midday (three in the afternoon in Moscow):

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2022/9/30/putin-signs-independence-decrees-for-za

Intrigued by 'The United States and Albania have been working on a draft resolution that “condemns the Russian Federation’s organization of illegal so-called referenda” in Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhia and Kherson, saying they “have no validity,” according to the AFP news agency. It will also call for Russia’s immediate and unconditional withdrawal from Ukraine.' It sounds like excellent PR but I would really like to see Putin crumble with 'I could handle Biden but once Albania got involved I knew I was in over my head...'

[edit] Looks like, as usual, Putin is making everyone wait. Too much to hope that something is going on behind the scenes to make him think again though.

He’s just unapologetically announced that there are four new regions of Russia. It’s pretty terrifying really. I don’t know how he’s going to be stopped. The only hope is that his cohorts will come to their senses and rebel against him.
