You’d have to assume Wednesday and ourselves have the resources to cope best with injuries.

Christmas and New Year generally finds squads out doesn’t it. I think this is why Plymouth do do well ( there geographically position makes them very good at home as teams struggle with the distance / travel. Conversely Plymouth don’t seem to travel well), but their small squad perhaps is found out over the second half of the season due to travelling rigours and they eventually fall away.
I don’t think SWFC are going to fade unfortunately. So if it’s a three horse race it’s more likely to be us snd SWFC for automatics . That’s my rationale anyway . 👍

Pretty much their fans thoughts too. On a train with a few and they were saying the same.

Did they think we’d be going up ?

Thing is IF they do drop away, it’ll leave us snd SWFC with a 10 point gap on 4th place ….

3 teams with >2 points a game.

I doubt it will look like that at the end of the season. Wigan finished 1st with 92 last year.

If we continue as we are we will be fine. Too early to focus on other teams results.

The games in December are challenging including Posh, Wycombe, Oxford & Pompey, with Fleetwood as the 5th game.

If we can win 3 and draw 2, that will be a good months results with our current crop of injuries too.

Why would teams of super-fit athletes, having travelled on a luxury coach or stayed the night in a luxury hotel, struggle to play that afternoon/eve or next day? 🤔 Don't get that.

Yes, they did. And there is no reason we shouldn't. We have a manager who knows what he's doing and players that have already shown enough skill and character to deal with setbacks and move on and win games.

That’s the frustration as I think if we hadn’t dropped points directly to Sheffield Wednesday and a half-dozen points in recent weeks, then we could have put a healthy gap between us. And the feeling that they were slipping out of the automatics race would have put a lot more pressure on them.

Bit of a wasted opportunity IMO. But hopefully we can put together a proper winning run. The next dozen games look all very winnable and includes both Plymouth and Weds at home. With only 5 away games and Portsmouth away the only really tough challenge among them.

Not to belittle the other teams and certainly not to take them as guaranteed wins by any stretch. But if we can play up to our standards then we should take a load of points.

Argyle have a difficult run of games in late Jan/early feb that could define their season. They have had a nice run recently that catches up with them in January.

Cheltenham
Derby
Sheffield Wednesday
Portsmouth
oxford.
Fleetwood
