Farewell Tours 10:00 - Dec 2 with 1587 viewswoodbridge_blue

Seeing that Elton John is doing yet another farewell tour, I was wondering which other acts have embarked on numerous such tours?

I can remember seeing Status Quo at The Regent in 1982 on what was laughably called "The End Of The Road Tour "

Any other examples?

Kiss have done more than I can remember. The first was sometime around 2001 I think. They claim their current one really truly is the last one this time.

A few years back Motley Crue made a big deal about their final tour and claimed they'd all signed binding contracts so they couldn't reform again even if they wanted to. Of course they're touring again now so another farewell tour can't be too far off!

I was dragged along to an A-ha gig on a farewell tour over 10 years ago. I went out for a smoke and two ladies were out there talking and one of them mentioned that she came to see them on their last farewell tour.

That must have been in 1984 not 1982.

I saw the Stones at Earls Court in 1976 as part of their farewell tour.

David Bowie played Milton Keynes Bowl in 1990ish saying it was the last time he would perform his back catalogue, perhaps he just meant the first album...

I think Ray Davies made a stage announcement at The Rainbow in the early Seventies that it was the last ever gig by The Kinks as some type of off the cuff faux sensation remark and it got widely reported as actually happening.

That was the "Ending on a High Note" tour in 2010. They were back with a new album in 2015.

To be fair, with the amount of times they've fallen out with each other, I'm surprised they haven't done more farewell tours.
