This interview is interesting. Also makes the point that the workforce that the Government are (consistently) giving low or no pay rises to are predominantly female. Of course, for those that want to shrink the state and buy into Conservative ideology it will make no odds. To contrast it with lifting the cap on bankers' bonuses and continue to encourage tax breaks and avoidance, shows the policy is about making the rich richer at the expense of the rest.
It’s about failed economic ideology as well - still pushing trickle down economics post Truss. It doesn’t take into account that giving a pay rise to 100,000s of nurses is going to be a bigger economic boost than a handful of bankers. Not to mention they are more likely to spend it than put it in tax free investment.
This largely aligns with their underlying Brexit plan of turning the UK into a low tax, low regulation state a la Singapore.
I hate the idea of price controls but it may be time to introduce them now. Nurses aren’t underpaid if for eg rent is affordable.

So nurses are not underpaid, it's just that stuff is too expensive? 🙄

You don’t understand inflation?

You don't understand the implications and effects of the rightie policies you support. And why do you assume all nurses pay rent ? Are you suggesting price controls on the fuel the pay for as well ?
And why stop at nurses ? Care workers are similarly suffering a cut in the real value of wages.

If you think rent control is a rightie idea then I have interesting news for you about the Soviet Union.

"You don't understand the implications and effects of the rightie policies you support"
slowly.........
That points out the free market nonsense you rightis support is the cause of the suggestiin that price control might be an idea
see the difference ?
Harold I am literally advocating for price control in rent.

It would be truly hilarious if this lot did/had to introduce something like that too.
It probably won’t happen this time, but if they happen to be in power in the next economic crisis and if Keith hadn’t already introduced them then it’ll fall on the Tories and as you say it will be hilarious and beautiful.

The problem with you righties is you never think things beyond some knee jerk response
How do you address the problem of mortgage payments for nurses, not helped by having let loose a rightie/brexit PM on the economy ?
Why just nursesm, what about care workers ?
How does a future block on any rent increase deal with the 20% erosion of nurses pay since your lot took over in 2010

Harold at no point have I said anything about “just nurses”. Truss wasn’t right wing, she was or maybe still is a neoliberal libertarian. I think, in your old fashioned way, you have confused yourself about right wing and neoliberalism. That’s ok, many people do. I am a conservative, not a Conservative.

Wheras "Nurses aren’t underpaid if for eg rent is affordable. " I don't see any others spoke off. So would it be others, if so which others ?
Would it inly be rent. Or would it be mortgages etc
How would it benefit their 20% pay erosion under your lot
"Truss wasn’t right wing, she was or maybe still is a neoliberal libertarian"
....which is rightwing. Even you should be aware of that. Or are we to conclude that the ERG are not actually rightwing, and the extreme right and Fascist parties they align themselves are not right wing either and they only sit among other righties in the EU parliament is because there are not seats anywhere else ?
Not surprised uou now wich to disown the Tory Party. I expect you'll be telling us all next that you were only obeying orders.
