For context, we did play an entire half against 10 men.

For even greater context. 10 men is just as hard to play against as 11 if they give up on attacking.

It does seem to be beyond some of you that the frustration is about our current form being worse than play off form rather than one game.

I still think we'll kick on, but idiotic comments like this don't help anyone

I don’t think that can possibly be true.

It's not. It's just a handy excuse if you fail to win.

Regardless of how deep they sit you still have 1 more player so no its not as hard. If you're down to 10 you'll say it's harder to beat the team with 11. So no its not right.

Of course it is. I’ve seen hundreds of sides fail to win against 10 men. Two organised banks of four, leave one up feeding on scraps. Means you have to sacrifice players to protect against a rapid counter.

It's a lot less common when it's a whole half of football, and there's research on this too. Teams concede more on average after a red than before.

We have the better squad.

That's not contextual, it is an opinion.

I’ve seen hundreds of sides fail to win against 11 men too, significantly more in fact

It's pretty simple in my opinion.

Did the sending off help us? No, as it meant that an already defensive team went ultra defensive and barely tried to attack for a whole half, leaving very little space to play in.

Should we still have won? Yes, a whole half of having the extra player should have been more than enough to pull them apart and get more than one goal.

I don't really understand people trying to excuse it as an acceptable result, given the context, tbh. It isn't the end of the world, there will be plenty more ups and downs over the next few months too, but as a standalone result it was pretty poor.
