I know that over the years there’s been a lot of criticism regarding the stadium’s acoustics- especially the SBR. But can anything be done to improve it without actually pulling it down completely which obviously won’t happen.

More people could make an effort.

At the back of the sir Bobby stand. When built they installed some form of windows at the back of the lower side to enable more natural wind to get to the pitch.

Are they still in use or have they been filled in ( I've always wondered if any air gaps whilst footballs on if some of the noise escapes that way?

It’s just vents, they’re always shut during games. Not sure if ground staff use them on non matchdays.

Noise is fine at the back anyway, as the roof is low there!

Such a shame they knocked the old one down. Such an iconic stand. I was a churchman sitter but loved the North stand atmosphere

If it hadn’t had got done when it did it may still be like that but doubt it would be fit for purpose!!

I'm quite interested to see how BAs move to Cobbold works out..... if their output could galvanise the SBR stand ( as they will be projecting across it, instead of away from it, that might pull things up. It was noticeable on Saturday that those opposite the plymouth fans complemented them on their noise, whereas those down the SBR stand thought they were quiet.

I think there is a limit to what acoustics can do for volume, that needs the whole ground to join in, but what we do need is for enough projection such that people know what to sing.

As mentioned on the other thread, maybe a return to some really simple chants, on long repeat for a bit might engage more fans, again on saturday, it seemed that by the time the SAR had worked out what SBR were singing, they'd moved onto something else.

There was only about one rendition of "Come on you blues" in the whole match, but everyone joined in, and the volume was incredible. If we can galvanise more people, you won't need to worry about acoustics, but I accept its a chicken and egg thing.

Back to basics...keep it simple and more will join in.
