We seem to have got our own Tinkerman with all the changes each week. However, despite many blips, Ranieri came good in the end and won the league. Question is, how long will our new owners give him to come good before they lose patience?

People were fine with him making lots of changes earlier in the season when we were top. A lot of our early success was built on being able to bring on impact subs - often John-Jules/Aluko/Edwards. Now it's seen as a reason for failure. I think people are casting about for scapegoats when the issues are actually far simpler.

I'm not sure 'people' were fine with it. Some were, some werent.

Personally I'm a fan of a more settled starting XI, and not making 4-5 subs midway through the second half.

People weren't happy when we were top of the league, top of the form table and top scorers?

Wouldn't want to sit next to them at a game.

"Knows his best team" - this is being talked about a lot right now.

Football has moved on - it's no longer about the best XI - it's about the squad. Due to KMs (not just his by the way) tactics and approach - with the amount of pressing we do, high up the pitch trying to win possesion back etc. you cannot simply run with a small squad or the same XI week in week out.

Look at Broady as a really good example. He's come from Wigan who's style is a lot more slow paced, sitting back and as a forward player wasn't being asked to put in the work rate he is now and he's struggling. He cannot play at that tempo 3 times in a 7 days.

14 months in and people seem to have only just noticed that McKenna tends to make a few changes game to game.

And, moreover, is now the norm in football.

I agree with the forward players but the central defensive 'rotation' of late is nuts.

Man United used to do this whilst he was there, they also never seemed to find a consistent formula upfront particularly under Solskjær, which is probably not a coincidence

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

Did I say people weren't happy? Nope.

It is possible to be happy with the league position, but uncomfortable with constant tinkering.

He didn't pick the team at United. Chaplin and Ladapo are on 15 and 14 for the season which is a decent return. I'm not sure the issue with our recent performances is down to something McKenna has done here since day 1.

And interestingly, if fully fit, you can basically name the first XI under ten Hag: De Gea, Dalot, Shaw, Varane, Martinez, Casemiro, Eriksen, Antony, Fernandes, Martial, Rashford.

What’s our first XI?

I'd be happy with players playing in bin bags, in a formation never before seen by the human eye, with three goalkeepers used in each game

If it someone got us out of L1
