So, the only thing I can see 17:22 - Feb 13 with 1764 viewsTalkingBlues

that everybody appears to agree on currently, is that the next 5 games are all winnable. Seeing as all those opponents reside in the bottom 7 positions of the table, I assume we all agree that anything other than 15 points from those games is a failure that all but rules out finishing in the top 2, yes?

Having 5 winnable games and winning 5 on the bounce are two different matters.

Personally, I think 12 points would be a good return from the next 15.

Agree with that, can’t see us winning 5, but can’t imagine losing any either, we are draw specialists atm, so I reckon we probably get 11, 3 wins and 2 draws.

The way we are playing at the moment - one bad half and one good half, it all depends on whether the opposition take advantage of our bad half and how well they defend in our good half.

Think we will struggle to get more than 11 points from the next 5 matches

Yep, that’s a fair assessment and I’ve gone for 11 points too, don’t think that would be enough, but is in line with current form I guess.

All very winnable, however will we win them, I very much doubt it, Bristol will be tough tomorrow for starters which I can see as a draw, 3 wins 2 draws my prediction

The only Muff in Town.

Looks like a lot of us are thinking the same, I hope we start where we left off the 2nd half against Wednesday, maul them from the start, don’t know why we’ve been so sluggish in first halves recently, when we were so much more energetic earlier in the season.

I agree but think that we really need a minimum of 13 to challenge for top two. If we were to win all 5, the table will be much more pleasant to look at. I doubt both of the top two will get that total as well. However, we would likely still have a big gap to them if we take 10 or fewer.

If we take 11 points from the next 5 games we'll be 4th, 8 points off automatics with 5 less games to play. It doesn't matter what a decent return is, if we want automatics it needs to be 8 wins from our next 10 games imo to have a chance and only a chance.

Every game in this division is ‘winnable’. Even Sheff Wed and Plymouth away could have been wins on another day.

But here’s the thing - not every winnable game is won. Some are drawn and one or two are lost. Town lose 1 in 8ish so far this season so it’s a reasonable thought that they won’t lose one of the next five. But they draw one in three. So place your bets. Won 3 draw 2 or W 4 draw 1. Either way it’s just average for the season. Any progress depends on Plymouth or Sheff Wed being well below average.

Got to be looking at 12-13 points minimum. I think 11 closes the gap slightly but just isn't enough for a variety of reasons - mainly because it means we've failed to win 2 games against bottom dwellers

If we’re being brutally honest, I think we need all 15 to make up enough ground on the top 2, we should never have been in this position in the first place, but we’re here. If we produce anything other than 3 points tonight and get leapfrogged in the league, it’ll be the first time this season that we are under real pressure from teams below and then we are really susceptible to psychological issues hampering performances.

I think phycological issues are hampering performances - we've had so many games unluckily go against us in an earlier period that we now seem to play waiting for it to happen at times. We've seemingly forgotten how to win and the only way we can escape that is by start winning.

We should win the next 5 games, we'll be heavy odds on favourites to win each game (4/7 tonight, 1/3 on Saturday) but no doubt will slip up somewhere along the line - just needs to be later in the run rather than earlier i.e. not tonight!

Tonight is pretty critical. Our away form needs to change for us to have any hope. We haven't won away in any competition for almost three months (19th Nov). We have to get the feeling back now. I can see us going on that mythical winning run if we win tonight.

Frankly I don't care how we win it!

Perhaps we need a phycologist to work with the players!

Well said, though.

Why would you assume that anything other than 15 points is a failure that all but rules us out of the top two? We could get 13 points and find ourselves back in the top 2. Not likely but possible. And that's followed by another 11 games where we could go in and out of the top two numerous times.
We need to be better at seeing off the lower teams than we have been lately, we can all agree with that.

And another reminder that, lose tonight and we'll likely drop to 5th. Another must win (which is scary because we rarely win the 'must wins'.
